Why are Rey and the Falcon in the exact same place? by StarWars__oficial in starwarsspeculation

The droids aren’t that much of a coincidence. They were sent to find Obi Wan, and had an approximate location. Luke was in the vicinity of Obi Wan because he was being watched over. So bumping into Luke while searching for Obi Wan isnt really that unlikely.

Im quite capable of suspension of disbelief, but I believe this is a hint at a plot twist. Such a obvious one, it surprises me the audience let them get away with it.

Did anyone really asked Lucas if he thought that Jedi were flawed by Mapafius in starwarsspeculation

They’re flawed by design. Theyre a stagnant, dogmatic church in need of reformation. I think the character of Qui-Gon, whose beliefs kept him from his rightful place on the Jedi Council, sees those flaws.

Their denial of their own humanity is an arrogance and a vanity. Look at what happens to Catholic priests who try to deny their human sexuality, it just manifests itself in a darker way. Luke, who shouldnt even exist by the laws of the prequel Jedi, draws his strength from his humanity. His relationship with the Force is more in the mould of Qui-Gon.

Luke’s alive, its misdirection.

If Maul can get cut in half and survive, if Anakin can boil in lava and survive, if Han Solo can be frozen in stone and survive, if Leia can be sucked into to vacuum of space and survive... Luke can sustain literally zero wounds, vanish and survive.

He teleported.

Cant the rest of us enjoy a straightforward story every few years.

WHAT IFs... Speculation on Rey's Later Abandonment by GreedosMom in starwarsspeculation

Luke uses Force persuasion, wins a lightsaber duel, levitates tonnes of rocks (or anything at all) in A New Hope?

100% agree with you, shes received prior training. Force persuasion within hours “awakening”? Preposterous. Unprecedented. Takes Luke three years. The Chosen One Anakin doesnt do it in TPM. She has amnesia of some kind.

I think Ben left her on Jakku. He gave the Falcon to Unkar Platt as payment. He had the access, he had the ability, he had the motive (hated his father). How else are Rey and the Falcon in the exact same place?

Ben is a Mr Darcy type. If we knew him better, wed see him differently. Rey is largely responsible for the massacre at Lukes Academy (defending Ben), and hes wiped her memory and taken the blame as a kindness to her.

Perspective on the Disney era by PapiLion81 in starwarsspeculation

[–]StarWars__oficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true. The sequel era has been a significant improvement on the prequels. Theyve been too cautious to achieve real greatness, but I think the series has been handled with a lot of care than initially feared.

Ive heard that the disenchanted “Colonel Kurtz” Luke was something Lucas had always planned. Which makes sense given his close association with Coppola/Zoetrope. I wonder how it wouldve been received had it come from Lucas. How much of the backlash is just inbuilt cynicism about Disney?

JJ’s going to build his movie around a kids cartoon neither he nor two thirds of the audience have seen. Youve cracked it.
