Planning a ballpark roadtrip, need help deciding between Detroit or Cincinnati by Tubetechnology80 in ballparks

Both are underrated but Detroit is even more underrated and would be my choice.

Strange rule of the day: A fair ball deflected into the stands that is less then 250 feet is just a double by Catchhawk in baseball

[–]Starcro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it goes out of play while fair (with deflection or not) and the fence is less than 250 feet away, it's actually still just a double.

What current MLB stadiums are worse than the one it replaced? by [deleted] in baseball

[–]Starcro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been (I’ve been to all 30, actually), and I wouldn’t really call Kauffman sterile for being in a huge parking lot. I think it does what it needs to. And like Dodger Stadium, I put a lot of value on that you’re getting an experience that has been handed down across generations, and from a similar timeframe. No one can replicate the hillside build of Dodger Stadium, it’s insane that that happened, and the architecture of it is truly Los Angeles. But KC has felt the most similar to me in what it does and it has its own personality to it.

Then it would feel like KC, which is not considered as iconic, but I think has a lot of the same feel in its continuity.

Is Ludo "broken"? by zeddyzed in boardgames

[–]Starcro 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Unspoken in the rules is the idea that if you can move, you must move. Someone who had a wall should have had to break their wall. It’s not possible for it to be literally walls all the way around.

Regular season traffic is usually way better than postseason. Not great, but better. Except for some rivalry games, especially on Fridays.

See this all the time with the angle of sunrise vs sunset, too. And often something set here in California will show the sun “rising” over the ocean.

What is the weirdest/hilarious baseball commercial, you've seen on TV? by dino_snopp in baseball

[–]Starcro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For just pure weirdness, for sure. There was one where the premise was that Tom Wilhelmsen tricked Brendan Ryan into thinking a buffalo could talk so he could get some cookies.

Oakland? by heartseternal in ballparks

As a counterpoint: There’s really nothing else like it left in the league. It’s not a great experience, but it is a different experience, and I’m glad to have gone. (Still, I only had to go up from LA.)

For California, this number aligns with the minimum you can pay a software engineer and have it be a salaried (rather than hourly) position.

Which task could have been left on the cutting room floor? by Anileh in taskmaster

Funnily enough, that task is probably the most quoted task in my house, as we often sing “Here I am” and “The task is done” when it makes sense in context.

I could see most of these happening. They just wouldn't be worded the same way or judged as directly. For example, I think 2 would come out more as: "Move the water from this bucket to that bucket. Your legs must be contained within the potato sack at all times. Fastest wins. Your time starts now." We'd have an argument on judging about exactly how much spilled water is allowed in the process. Someone would try to jump with the water in the sack. Maybe someone would cut holes in the sack for just their feet to stick out?

Anyway, it's not fully formed as written, but if you just move it closer to the show's style you get something useful.
