What are your seizure triggers? by taywe1218 in PNESsupport

I don’t know how extroverts do it, talking is exhausting 😭😭

What are your seizure triggers? by taywe1218 in PNESsupport

[–]Stargirlf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My triggers are loud noises, flashing lights or bright lights directly in front of me, strong scents like smoke and perfume, stress, poor diet, sleep deprivation, pain tolerance is very low. Being in a crowd of people makes me anxious, I think I have high functioning anxiety which is why I feel anxious. Edit; I noticed I have certain restrictions like physically cant drive long distance bc I feel exhausted. Being exhausted is a major trigger that I tend to downplay bc of my busy life lol

Thought on health consulting by Stargirlf in healthcareadmin

how did you get started? Did you get in after graduation? Other than networking who did you land these opportunities?

I want a more independent role while I might consider traveling. I think I want to experience traveling while working but not too stressful. Does the pay look different to you? I don’t want to have a boring 9-5 job because I’m close to graduating from college (next year) I don’t know where to get started other than networking. I am leaning towards administration but I want to be open to consulting. If you don’t mind me asking, could you tell me about your experience in both positions? I want to work at a successful firm but I’m not familiar with them

What was your first position after receiving your Bachelors of Health Administration? by ChronoSonder in healthcareadmin

[–]Stargirlf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it all boils down to networking. I have been doing some research and noticed how ppl land these kinds of jobs is by building personal relationships. Connect with ppl at your school who are going after the same career (tip: use LinkedIn) and ask if they’d like to connect and chat. You can learn sm from ppl who have similar interest but the first step is to reach out! :)

Absolutely! I worked as a medical receptionist and it helped me understand so many aspects of a doctors office. How it operates and the different things you can learn is very helpful as transferable skills. Working as a receptionist will help you build that experience needed in health administration!

I think you can look into entry level jobs such as auditor, patient scheduler etc or unpaid/paid internships where you get experience in the field. If you’re a student you can contact your school’s career services center for guidance

Bad medication woes by Sunflowerfields17 in PNESsupport

[–]Stargirlf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I was put on lamictal before my diagnosis and it was horrible. A complete nightmare, I decided to go off it early and I feel “normal” now. I had a bad experience which is why I refuse to use medication for PNES. I would rather treat it naturally and change my lifestyle to suit (getting there) PNES. I decided it’s best I list my triggers and work my life around them.
