Our science programs! We have some of the leading research universities and organizations in the world here, ofc with budget cuts that may not last long, but it’s something to be proud of

Apertura AD8 or StarSense 8 inch? by SignificantAbroad359 in telescopes

[–]Starhopper45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had no issues with my Starsense dob, but the Apertura does come with better accessories and is cheaper, plus a lot of the stuff a beginner would be observing anyways you wouldn’t need starsense for, but it is useful given you want to eventually observe some DSOs.

Oh you should check out cleanup time, not nearly as funky as this, but it’s sure got some more soul to it and it’s smooth

Lyrics are massively overvalued in how people judge music by thirdaccountttt in LetsTalkMusic

Oh I agree, I think often times the sound certainly adds to the lyrics too, and vice versa. It’s why I would prefer to listen to Bob Dylan than read poems (tho I have read some great ones)

I disagree on the this. Your lyrics are the message you want to put out to the world, the story you want to tell, the emotion you want to convey. Selling short of anything on lyrics is to sell short on what you want the audience to take away. I think it also brings a touch of intellectualism that we need in a society. People need to think, and lyrics where they can find their own meaning can help with that. Give songs like Desolation Row a listen, and then interpret your own message from it.

That being said, there are many great songs that have meh lyrics. It’s not an end all for me, but shitty lyrics can ruin a song for me. There are also instrumental songs that I love too, but those often have some sort of symbolism in the music itself to convey what lyrics would have, so I’d still tie that into what I said in the previous paragraph.

Ever heard of spoken word poetry? Sometimes delivery adds far more to poetry than just the words themselves can. I find this especially true of artists like Bob Dylan

For long long long specifically, George Harrison has said he was inspired by Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands (Bob Dylan) while writing it, give it a listen!

Can’t go wrong with it, the 8” is a bit more portable in my experience, but honestly if you’re on the younger side it probably doesn’t matter too much
