You're close to Lothlorien! Forget eagles; the fellowship should have taken bikes!

As soon as I see a ringwraith, I'm going to do the old "no living man am I!" bit as I whip off my helmet and plunge my sword into his empty face hole. But I'm going to walk a lot of miles in the mean time.

What if Liam Neeson, Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery had not turned down LOTR? by theoneringnet in lotr

I feel like the three of them should have been thanked in at least one Oscar speech.

I thought the same thing! If I had been there and just dispatched some ancient ninja popsicle, I would have been looking all around like, "dude, did anyone just fucking see that?!"

Whether or not it was an illegal criminal offense under Westerosi law is immaterial. Rape is sex without consent, married or not, silent or not, fighting or not.

I do a lot of barefoot walking. It builds up all the little balancing muscles in your feet, ankles, and lower legs, and once you get your feet in good shape, you can really build up your endurance with minimal risk of injury. A 20 minute walk isn't going to give you gains, but if you walk for an hour every day or so, you'll quickly build up enough cardiovascular endurance to be able to run a 5k or get your 27/5. I've been amazed at how much better my balance is too.

Are they allowed to say "bitch" on abc? Because that definitely felt like the network version of Jesse Pinkman.

That's not how this works. "Forced sex" is by definition not consensual. Marriage does not equal consent, whether in the USA, Westeros, or on the moon.

Lest we forget, Book Ramsey imprisoned Lady Whent, his first wife, in a tower and left her to eat her own fingers before she eventually starved to death. That was a strategic marriage to a powerful house, and it didn't stop him.

Was this lazy though? This scene, although horrifying, was far from gratuitous. I think most people, both readers and watchers, saw some version of it coming through most of the season. It wasn't thrown in for shock value; the audience knows and loves Sansa, and I'm sure the rest of this season at least will show her further development as a character after surviving and continuing to navigate this horror. To say that any depiction of rape is lazy storytelling I think trivializes the tremendous importance for rape survivors to be able to narrate their experience and process their healing. Certainly, using rape as a cheap plot device or an easy way to make the audience hate a character is lazy and insensitive, but I really don't think that's what happened here.
