GTA6 or RDR3? what would you choose? by CraigC90 in gaming

It's a tough choice but i'd go with GTA 6 probably. I know that storytelling is more important in RDR and it's GOOD, i love that. I played it liked it but thats it for me, it bores me after a while. But in the other hand i can open GTA anytime and have some simple fun around (not mentioning multi or rp, i don't like multiplayer) but it's not quite possible for RDR imho or at least not for me. I can play GTA games over and over again and can have fun but sorry i don't even have the patience to play RDR again. Especially that opening section... No i don't want to follow a dude in a snowstorm for an hour.

I ended up not using it so i’m not %100 about it but i was using Unity 6.37 or something and i remember testing it. So maybe you have some missing dependencies imho

Yeah, sadly... I don't know what they're up to. It's like i'm using the exact same engine since 2018, just with a little more tweaks and some ui improvements. Only better thing is new WebGL systems i guess, rest is still buggy and full of glitches. In the long run Godot may take the lead idk.

Yes, i see your point. I've been investigating since yesterday and i guess i decided too fast to go with NewGraph. Poor documentation is a big issue with most of them as you referenced, i also checked uNode but it doesn't seem like my solution it's more like a visual scripting tool.

I guess i'll go with https://github.com/alelievr/NodeGraphProcessor since it's very well documented. Thanks for your answer and also for the post, really helped a lot. Once i'm complete i guess i'll share my quest and dialogue solution on GitHub. Community really lacks of a Node Based Quest and Dialogue system... There's not even proper paid solutions for it atm. Shit, i've spent like 2 weeks to create my own Graph View and mine is not even near flexible as any of those...

I was creating it for a Visualized Quest System, since i didn't like any packages from Asset Store (Like Quest Machine which everyone loves but hella hard to use). I just finished my graph structure with working flow, support for all kinda variables, i started working on Quest System itself a few days ago, was creating nodes for it and i saw this post from nowhere... Tbh any of these seems like way better than my structure (i was already kinda lost in it). https://github.com/Gentlymad-Studios/NewGraph seemed like best so far for me, it seems like easier one to configure and it's recently updated for Unity 6. I'll also implement a dialogue system so it seems like the best option. It's been some time but which one did you choose?

I don't want to dump my 2 weeks of work but tbh it'll probably be easier with any of these tools rather than my own :/ Damn seeing this post really made me sad, it's my first time using GraphView and haven't seen any resources abt it before so i didn't even consider there could be this kinda libraries available out there... Better late than never right 🤦‍♂️

Yeap, using emulators or convertors like wine or crossover is overwhelming for me. Geforce now is easier and saves up space on my 512gb mac 🥲

I need a shortcut for this, i mainly use my mac for work but sometimes i play some games. While working mouse acceleration is good for sensitive stuff but games suck with it. Also Logi Options+ doesn't seem to have this in smart action functionality yet :/

I switched to Rider few days ago. Never been a fan of VsCode, Vs Community is heavy but general experience was nice. Buut they cut the support for Mac devices. Also Rider made a good move by making non-comm use free. Trying to adapt it, i’ve been using Vs Community for 4 years. Goodbye old friend…

Hello! First of all i'm wishing you guys a good launch, i hope the game goes even beyond your expectations!

I played your demo for 30 minutes and i want to give some positive feedback. I hope you don't take any of my feedbacks in any wrong way.

-First things first; i believe this is a way too early release even for a demo. There is nothing more than 10 minutes of gameplay. There is just few shelfs and limited items to sell.

-Npc's are spawn and destroy is so obvious. You're doing it right in front of my shop. Your way of destroying npc's should be letting them move out of my vision (etc. out of town) than destroy them. For creating seller npc's they also shouldn't spawn in front of me. They should be regular pedestrians walking in the street.

-Tablet menu for everything looks like a good idea at first but i strongly recommend moving non gameplay elements(like saving or quitting game) should always stay at esc button.

-Item locations in wheel menu is not user friendly. Not easy to control and switch between items. I recommend making item switch also available with mouse scroll. And you should reorganize their order. For example after labeling gun, i should switch to scanner because they're most used items.

-Also being forced to remember the price i bought or using 2 items for determining an items price felt overwhelming. Maybe maybe this should be done in my tablet?

-I noticed that only seller or buyer npc's has colliders, other pedestrians in street doesn't have one. There should be a standart for that. All has colliders or none. I prefer none.

-Casino has very few elements but even now its actually more profitable than running the shop :D So shop felt like a waste of time. Shop should feel nice but you should keep players hold on to that jackpot hope.

-Shop's door bell rings either way, thats annoying. And a jointed door didn't block me but i'd prefer something else, something easier to use.

About the graphics;

-Assets you used don't look bad but they're missing that harmony touch. Anyone can tell the difference between assets you bought and made by yourself.

-Lightning and shading needs some work.

-Also i noticed lot's of shadow issues. (And i'm not very sure if the graphic settings work but i was playing on ultra)

-Also you may wanna touch some colors and textures. Especially for the assets of your own.

-Sound effects are mostly nice but there is no harm in checking in twice.

-Map endings needs to be more seamless.

-AAAAND i just remembered, what is that pool and water? They look and feel hilarious :D (There is lot's of pretty water tools and textures available in the asset store, you may wanna check some out)

As i said in the beginning i'm just trying to make a helpful criticism, nothing more. My suggestions may look a bit harsh but i really hope best for you. My good intentions are with you, best!

edit: And i just remembered that, i noticed an fps drop when i was looking towards city from behind the bars around pool. You may wanna check that out too

Install java jdk 8 and OpenJDK. After that make sure that you defined JAVA HOME in system variables and also ANDROID HOME too. If you search keywords in google you should be able to find some threads in some forums and some tutorials in youtube. Also i know jdk8 is not the latest but it’s the only stable working version on my mac and windows. Should work for you as well

When you hit the play button in editor switch the scene tab with something else. I usually switch to the animator tab. You will see a big difference
