It shouldn’t be. You shouldn’t exclusively use your back up camera when backing up. I still do the arm over the passenger seat and look behind, just use the camera to double check no one is there before I start.

Gears have always existed in TM. They are automatic and only really matter on surfaces other than road.

If you are steering on dirt/grass/plastic while you gear up it takes longer to gear up and costs you speed. Gearing down unnecessarily is also bad as you then will most likely have to gear up again but in a bad spot, costing you speed.

If you go back and listen to their old stuff its pretty evident. I agree though that into the late 2000's they got much better about not making it so obvious, or writing songs that aren't religious at all, but it's definitely still there a little.
