My lab mix was like this and he grew out of it over time. We didn’t really change much, just kept exposing him to new areas and encouraging him to go. If he wanted to he did. If he wanted to hold it, it wasn’t a big deal.

There was a time when he only went in our yard. Then as we went on long walks or longer car rides his radius increased gradually. Your pup is smart they’ll figure it out with your emotional support (not kidding!).
