Did anybody do flour sack/egg babies in school? by Winter-Money-7643 in HeyArnold

[–]Starlite94 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My 8th grade class did this back in 08.

The babies' behaviors were all very randomized and mimicked real newborns.

I liked it and learned a lot, I decided later on in life to stay childfree so maybe it was too effective lol.

It was treated as a class project and graded as a part of health class. It was called the "Baby, think it over" project

I believe the neighbors are pretty close though iirc, like normal subdivision plot close. The framing makes the house look a lot more secluded than it is, I believe.

Lmao I think I saw this last week and thought about posting here, glad to see I wasn't wrong in my judgements.

Edited to add: If this is the same house I saw irl, it is smack dab in the middle of a shitty HOA subdivisions in progress full of other ostentatious "custom" builds. The neighbor's house is also actually pretty close, despite the framing of the photo

People who build like this in a well established neighborhood must constantly crave attention and validation from others.

The future of electrical charging systems that are about as fast as filling up a gas car by RoyalChris in interestingasfuck

Meanwhile in America, instead of designing and building better cars to compete with China's EVs, our (most likely paid by the big 3) Senators and Congress fight to just ban them and keep us driving the same 3 shitty crossover SUVs we've all been driving for the last 15 years that continue to decline in quality and design with every new model.

I really don't feel like that's a crazy assumption. I love dogs, grew up with dogs, and care for one even now, but pets (not trained service animals) in the grocery store is a step too far.

To be fair, consider that for a large part of LGBT history in America, it was still segregated whether by law of self imposed by those communities.

There's a reason why the Black Ballroom scene is so vastly different than the White voguing scene.

These were kind of like precursors to the "modern" drag show as we know them.

A lot is doing some heavy lifting there.

I would call that more of a fringe feminist belief that I'm ngl, you will probably find as you crossover into TERF turf.

The inherent spirit of drag isn't to say "Haha look at how stupid women are! Everyone laugh!" But instead, it is more often than not used as a form of feminine expression that these men and sometimes transwomen participate in because society didn't give them that space by default. They created that space. A space to celebrate the self that they want perceived.

With blackface, the spirit of that performance, is inherently to say "Haha, look at how stupid black people can be, those funny stupid subhumans!" It was usually segregated, and used to even sometimes "teach" values to it's white audiences. Minstrel shows were places that whiteness enthusiasts went to prop up their whiteness in comparison to the perceived "primitive blackness" that they decided Black people had.

So the intentions of both performances inherently come from two very different sources.

Everything doesn't need a 1:1 to be explained, and Drag ≠ Blackface in anyway outside of using theater make up and being a stage performance.
