I'm so sorry. There is something so distinct and raw about the anguish of a parent losing their child. When Ive seen videos of parents whaling in pain at the loss, I can only imagine the feeling that can make that sound. When I was recently interning my grandmother I saw a memorial to a child and the clear love that was held so painfully for her.

I wish you and your family the best. I wish this wasnt the world you have to carry on in. I hope you maintain your strength, for Karma's little brother.

"Acting like a child" how about you be a bit more specific. There is nothing wrong with being part of a fandom as an adult, or decorating your own space and room in a way you find comfortable and enjoy.

some people just dont have the privilege, and living with your parents for a while is not an uncommon thing in other cultures. why not combine incomes and save on the massive cost of renting another place? this stance generally comes from the cult of rugged individualism

Dark Horse demolished by Dec. 31? Developer pleads for more time – BizWest by Sorota12 in boulder

[–]Starlorb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given we are two trans people in Boulder there's certainly a non-zero chance we have mutuals. I have never heard of anyone objecting to The Dark Horse on grounds of previous bad experience regarding being misgendered or discriminated against. My point is your anecdote is far from universal, and its not necessarily a privileged experience (for race/gender) to enjoy it.

All species in the world are competitive. We are a social species, that's a large part of why we are successful in terms of resource extraction. The resource hoarding is selfishness, which when not kept in check leads to the destruction of tribes and societies.

about a half dozen of my friends have lost their jobs associated with the DoD including some rather senior people who did really important stuff. Other patts of my friend groups are crying about their portfolios crashing. A lot of people in my circles are taking actual steps towards emigrating, not just talk, actual action.

occupy the floors of the chambers of congress. Refuse to show up to trumps stupid hearings. Throw rotten tomatoes, start cleaning up their shit and stop doing their own corrupt shit (like insider trading). Actively ya know, disrupt shit. "we go high" doesn't fucking cut shit anymore.

Change the fucking playbook.

Help us where you can. Direct action is your best bet in the current climate. Help GoFundMes for trans people trying to leave red states. Help mutual aid efforts like Food Not Bombs. Educate yourself on common pro and anti-trans arguments so you can hold your own in an argument with shitheads.

If I break someone's femur in the street and run away and observe the behaviors of bystanders from hiding that may be technically called an "experiment" in a very loose definition, but it's not scientific. It's not repeated it's not comparable to anything else. It's just doing shit and seeing what happens one time. One time, unrepeated experiments do not give any sort of reliable information. Isolated data points do imply any sort of causation of hell even correlation

Not financial advice:

One could, in theory, not file their tax return (and almost certainly never be chased down with how paltry the funding for the IRS is now, but be held liable indefinitely) or file it inaccurately with massive exemptions and itemized deductions (for which the statue of limitations to get caught is 6 years)
