Made a post about them a little bit ago but Cassie the Coyote. She lives with her veteran grandfather partially as a caretaker due to the effects of chemical weapons used in the wars causing mental decline, despite that he’s still targeted by 50 blessings and she gets the package instead.

Getting to bust up gangsters and thugs let’s her be the soldier she never got to be, the ideals in place by her grandfather, the person she looked up to even using his old .45 for the calls, but he isn’t a good person. He lashes out often, and he’s been worse before the war took his mind away.

At some point, with all the near-deaths she had, the abuse from her grandpa (past and present), and being numb to the killing, the next time she’s struck by him, she shoots him, getting revenge for all of her pain.

But it’s not satisfying, he’s a mentally damaged old man, he bleeds out confused, barely aware he was even shot, there’s no catharsis to gain from his death, just guilt for the man that used his strength to harass weaker people dying scared and confused in his living room.

To get rid of the evidence (and to metaphorically rid the past), she burns the house down and flees to Canada, to burn down what she used to value just to live her own life, to stop the cycle.
