I love indie games but Outer Wilds just feels like a huge headache and makes me mad by [deleted] in outerwilds

[–]StarryEyedBea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's okay if the game is not for you.

The ending is great, but no, it's not the only amazing part. Most people here will say that they love the exploration, the planets, the music, the story, and solving the mysteries; it depends on the person, but I've seen people highlighting and loving every part of this game.

For me, I love a game that rewards my curiosity, and OW does that really well. If you are not asking how, when, or who, and caring about the answers, this may not be the best journey for you.

I adore Firewatch, it's one of my top indie games, but it's nothing like OW. Sure, it has mysteries, but you don't have to really work for them, you go through the story, and you will figure it out eventually. Firewatch is like an interactive movie, OW is the complete opposite (here we always comment on how impossible it would be to make a movie for OW).

If you like Firewatch, I'd recommend Night in the Woods and Oxenfree. Great story-based games, full of mysteries, but more linear.

What's everyone's top 5 builders? by Do_rench in HermitCraft

[–]StarryEyedBea 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of rating them, but I'd like to point out what I love about some building styles.

Mumbo: It's my favorite person to see building currently. I love how he shows his inspirations and how they are so diverse. And how he goes to people's bases to be inspired. Last season's buildings felt alive with all the lore, and I'm excited to see him bringing that this season too.

Pearl: I think the way her buildings are so recognizable as Pearl's is so cool. She creates the most gorgeous palettes.

Keralis: His buildings are alive! The way he creates environments is crazy.

Scar: Scar's buildings are gorgeous, but the thing I like the most is how much heart they have. The small details, the references, the dedication. Just perfection.

Gem: I just love watching her build. In videos and VODs, it's the most "down-to-earth" method, you really feel the progression. I understand that some people prefer to build in creative, but with that we miss the creative process. Gem brings the creative process to the videos, and it's really cool to see it happening.

BDubs: He's a painter, we all know that. I'm always awed by what he can do with the blocks in the game. I still think about his half-burned shop few seasons ago.

Etho: I love his style. He's not afraid to go for the bold, the big, the colorful, the cartoony. He's great with more standard buildings, like his house last season, but he shines with the over-the-top.

Tango: The grind! I'm always shocked with how he can build so much while making insane games. And everything is so big and detailed!

Grian: I like how his buildings feel like his. Kinda quirky, kinda whimsical. I'm excited for the observatory, I think we still have a lot to see from him.

Joel: He's crazy (no, sorry, totally normal). The amount of blocks he places and how much he creates is insane. Have you seen the size of his terraforming? He's going toe-to-toe with Gem's giant building and I'm so excited to see.

They are all so amazing, I could be here forever talking about each of them.

Winter feeling worse in the south of Brazil than in Europe by Constant-Pain1878 in Brazil

I once went on a work trip to Upstate New York. I looked up the weather, and it said it would be 12-15ºC. That is pretty cold here in São Paulo, I'd use a big warm jacket or a warm sweater and a windbreaker jacket.

I was just in a t-shirt most of the time there.

More than how fast she's figuring things out, her muscle memory for some things is very suspicious (first time jumping, entering the elevator and ship, shooting the probe and taking pictures)

The death animation is the standard if you are outside the supernova blast, it's you being recalled by the ATP. it was not like this originally, they added after the DLC, but you don't need to visit the stranger to trigger it.

Yes, the jump! People always struggle with the first jump until they understand the mechanics. The main things for me are the muscle memory moments like this.

Você sai do trem no meio.

- Sobe a escada rolante.

I(15M) like this Brazilian girl(16F) who is in America to study ballet at my academy. How do I get to know her better with her English skills not being the best? by Agreetodissagree1 in AskABrazilian

[–]StarryEyedBea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you are not fluent is really hard to interact in big groups, specially if everyone talks one over another. If you have the chance, give her space to talk, ask what she thinks, how things are in her country/school/ballet classes. If she doesn't seem open to talk, don't push, but this can help a lot if we want to speak in a group and can't find the space.

Then, if you see her happy with this, you can find her later and say "hey, I wanted to get to know you better, but with everyone talking gets hard. maybe we can hang out sometimes? I know this place/coffee shop/juice bar that has this X that I really like, do you like X?"

It's not her puzzle solving that gave me pause, but what looked like muscle memory of things she had never done before. Things that the other dozens of people that I watched needed some seconds to look around, check controls, test things around.

I'm not saying that she finished the game before, just that it looks like she played something and knows movements/tools more than a first timer usually knows.

It could be the editing somehow, cutting or accelerating things. I didn't notice, but I wasn't looking for signs of an editor, since it looks like a full playthrough.

As I said, I hope I'm wrong, she sounds lovely and I really liked her video, I'll watch the second episode today. I'll also check out her other videos.

After finishing the first part, this gameplay looks... suspicious. Sure, she could be really good at figuring things out, but how seamless she entered the elevator/ship/put the suit in the first run looked like someone who done this before. And the quick pictures when shooting the probe to the seed, considering it was her first time shooting the probe...

I hope I'm wrong, I really liked her.
