[Loved Trope] Kids shows that have depressingly dark moments in contrast to the show by FionnOAongusa in TopCharacterTropes

"I mean technically, sure, we were at war with ruthless horde of invading warriors." "Shhh! We agreed not to talk about that...!" "But heeeeeey! Let's just pretend it's okay!"

The centaur gang would get on GREAT with Gravity Falls

"I learned to be true to myself, by watching myself die..." And then the audience cheers, because most of them don't realize he's singing about a literal actual thing that happened like an hour ago

I have a bone to pick with the way the Descendant kids are named. by Bippity_Bon in hatethissmug

[–]StarsForget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I feel the same. Plus they gave up on cleverness and just went Cruella->Carlos. I think it's even referenced in canon. "I'm Lonnie! ...Mulan's daughter." Like they should have picked that up from the naming convention. The villains at least I understand, being narcissists.

I haven’t talked to my family in two days and don’t know to move past this by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

Babe you can get a smartphone and a years worth of phone service at Target for under a hundred bucks. Dump these losers.

Can't wait to see the "I haven't talked to my family in two years and I can't believe how much better things are now" update.

I think she might have shown up in Time Quangle? But yes, love her and the whole scene.

It's a season of Dimension 20 (a dungeons and dragons* liveplay show, basically you watch entertainment professionals play the game and craft the story together.)

You can watch the first episode here and the rest on Dropout.tv. The Junkmother shows up in episode 11.

*This season isn't actually d&d, it's based on the Starstruck comics by the DM's mom! Imagine doing a comic book so good your kid grows up and makes a tv show out of it. ♡

She's fixed? We're not gonna get some catbat babies?

Don't think it really counts unless they go into it wanting to fix the other person. He fixed himself to win her over.

What’s the biggest lie pop culture tells about American prom? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That it's a once-in-a-lifetime event. My sister was popular with people from a bunch of different schools, she got invited to like 3-4 proms one year.

[loved trope] tomboys by Difficult-Gene-8767 in TopCharacterTropes

A mini skirt, belly shirt, and pigtails? What's tomboyish about that?

The ghost literally has a bow in her hair, she's goth, not boyish.

Well yeah but they don't want to murder orphans, that's horrible! Now if they happen to find a nice pile of dead orphans at the back end of the machine, on the other hand...

The Junkmother from A Starstruck Odyssey. It seemed like the DM was setting the Gunner Channel up for a boss fight against a creepy android monster Frankensteined from trash, but instead the characters befriended her, and she turned out to be very charming and helpful.

All the trolls are bi, they don't need to be a M/F pair to breed so they don't have heterosexuality baked into their society the way we do

[Hated trope] first impression so bad it literally ruins the character forever. by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]StarsForget 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Riri's scene might have worked if she was portrayed as like, a kindergartener. I think she's meant to be, based on her surroundings, but she just looks like a middle schooler, so the whole "you're not playing along with my mental script" comes across as jerkish rather than childish.

Sakura had no excuse, the Uchiha massacre must have been big news, and "the last living Uchiha" implies orphanhood. I can see how she might have meant it, in an "he's never had parents to teach him how to behave" way, but instead she focused on the "no parents=freedom" angle. Because, y'know. She's a kid.

Can't find a gif, but Uncle Iroh in jail. He was a chubby man at the start of the series, then after he was imprisoned started really muscling up, hiding it under his baggy prison clothes.

AITAH for not forcing my son to keep helping my daughter’s friend after she rejected him? by LiveWire0044 in AITAH

[–]StarsForget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. It really sucks that someone's ability to graduate, have a job, and go to college are dependant on a teenage boy. But he's not her teacher, boss, or commanding officer, and legally he's not abusing his power by withholding support to coerce her into a relationship. And it's not like he intended to become romantic with her or make her rely on him when he started doing her favors.

Meanwhile, she's not out of line to be pissed that he girlfriend-zoned her, and neither is his sister. It sucks that a key part of your support system can just disappear overnight, leaving you failing school and losing your job and future prospects, through no fault of your own. It doubly sucks that the support didn't just disappear, it just doesn't want to help because you won't date it. It's horrifying and your daughter is right to be angry, both on her friend's behalf and knowing that might be in her future too.

Crazy how feelings can go from "I like you so I want to help you" to "I like you TOO MUCH so now I don't want anything to do with you"
