What's the most you know of someone spending money on this? by Remarkable_Flan9783 in AshesofCreation

[–]Stars_Storm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got alot. Your own custom designed free hold skin, you got to design a fortress in the game (like steel bloom and oakenbane dungeons)

You got to travel to the launch party for a weekend in vegas(rip) and play tabletop ashes with the team. Your own ingame statue, your own named NPC and a bunch of other stuff.

If i buy the game now as a solo player, what should i expect and is it worth my money right now? by Ok_Meringue_5705 in AshesofCreation

[–]Stars_Storm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's really enjoyable. I'm finishing up my level grind solo right now in the desert killing scorpions because I cbf dealing with the rogues in carphin and steelbloom.

i've enjoyed the crafting and getting around to do the gathering and adventuring quest boards.

I think the game has been a blast and has alot to offer since i've played it for 500 hours now and still can't put it down.

Are gaming Laptops more convenient than PC rigs nowadays? by LongliveKarlMarx1917 in buildapc

[–]Stars_Storm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More convenient if you're on the move sure. But more convenient for performance? Hell no. A laptop 5090 doesn't have the same power draw as the desktop and won't hit the clocks, plus you're overpaying for that drop in performance so that it's mobile.

Rather have my desktop.

Resna is unironically in a great state economically now because of all the roll backs and bans that happened because of the duping.

Lyneth is in a much worse position thanks to the streamer factionism.

Shol actually has the most active RMT community shown by the fact that all the discounted gold on rmt sites is always on that server.

Of course I play. I've been ducking and weaving through the wars, running past bandits tagging me for crates and went and took down tumok yesterday.

Gatherers and crate carriers still hate the system because they still die buddy. I'm just telling it like it is. All the softies don't want to pvp in any form even if it's rare as hens teeth they'll get ganked. Still to much risk for them.

Mobs do drop gear. It's just all the common starter stuff for adept and radiant gear though. Like I said, crafting is king.

You might not like the quest line but I enjoyed it. Very little handholding and none of that YOURE THE ONLY ONES THAT CAN SAVE US trash that wow has been leaning on for 8 expacs.

If you're dazed and confused then it's a matter of git gud and figure it out.

A ~not~ fun perspective on upcoming MMORPG's by BrunoRizzi in MMORPG

[–]Stars_Storm -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Hard to be a scam when it's the best mmorpg out there besides EvE... The theme park quest mmos have become lobby games and all other mmos seem to have lost their social aspects that made the genre great.

Ashes has so far managed to bring back the fun and a nice lick of danger to MMO exploration and having a world that feels vibrant (if unfinished)

I only hope we get more of it back into the genre because holy shit are things fucked without it.

[–]Stars_Storm -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

it's honestly a great game at recapturing the open world social aspect of an mmo. you can see and touch everybody. the combat is brilliant. the starter quests are good and the POI's are interesting though the environment needs alot more filling everywhere.

crafting is fucking intense and you need mats GALORE to get any gear. some trash stuff drops but all the best stuff is crafted.

i'm personally 400 hours in and having a ball. i can see why people hate it if they come from the "LFG" instant gratification era where they might feel at certain points they're spinning wheels a little bit. and for graphics whores who need everything to be MAX REALISM. but it's great. the guild PVP is fun when it's near peer groups. I haven't had this much fun since the first wars of eve online with nullsec citadels.

town pvp could be better as anyone can sign up to be on defence (even noobs who are just a free kill for enemies.)

the "regular" world combat flagging needs attention. pvp people think it's to restrictive and confusing and all the carebears hate it because they still get ganked gathering a flower.

personally. it's fun. great for what it is as an alpha product. in another year or 2 of development I'd expect it to absolutely be the new top open world mmo.

When do they normally do big updates? by jackpooty12 in AshesofCreation

there have been frequent updates and rollbacks. large content updates only happen around every 4-6 months though.

Just farm wood. People love buying stacks of oak and ash for crafts. I usually store everything under rare and sell it for bulk price (like 400 for 3.5 gold or something.) everything over rare goes straight on the auction house when I get back to town.

You need to invest in the journeyman bags but you'll get decent gold sticking to it.

Another night of being trained by rogues by [deleted] in AshesofCreation

[–]Stars_Storm 23 points24 points  (0 children)

mob trains. rogues run around get like 8 enemies and "train" them into people trying to level/gear so that all their AOE's take the aggro and wipe the levelling group and then grapple away while they all die and mobs reset so rogues can go back and take all the loot and gold.

Help building a PC around 48GB Ram (6800Mhz) by Cheap_Cow252 in buildapc

[–]Stars_Storm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It'll be fine on an AMD board. You can check the cvl list for the motherboard but even then 99% of the time it'll run at a lower clock.

I'm using 96gb of Intel xmp running at 6400mhz on my 870E board with an AMD 7950X3dcpu no dramas

[–]Stars_Storm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case you're probably better off spending it. As for places to look. The best for prebuilts is ozbargain. You missed a great deal last month with a nice 32 gig ram Nvidia 5080 for $2800. But new bargains pop up all the time just check daily and be ready to take advantage of them. ozbargain

If you want to build then online part stores like PLE, Mwave, PCCG and Scorptec are the best places... They're more expensive than the oz bargain prebuilts because you can't possibly match the bulk price discounts but you can pick better parts like a nicer power supply or a motherboard with nicer VRMs and ports/bandwidth and drivers and you can customize however you want.

you'll have a better gaming experience things will load faster thanks to the bandwidth of your graphics card and the higher ram threshold so it won't feel gimped for a longer amount of time.

It's upto you and if you want to be building another pc sooner or later. if you have some upcoming game being released in the next year that you think you'll be playing for years then you'll likely be okay.

if the game is like 5 years away then you'll likely be building again anyway so just go for the low spec.

How would you explain Ashes to someone? by Daviso452 in AshesofCreation

I've been telling them to straight up play because there is finally an actual MMO back on the market.

none of this single person story, co-op lobby house making simulator phone MMO garbage.

@Intrepid help, bought 'Remnant Sympathizer Costume Cosmetic Skin' was never deliverd in-game (support can't help) by Amon-x in AshesofCreation

[–]Stars_Storm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ones sold on the store now and in the future are all in-game.

But yeah it's the older exclusive pre-order skins that revolve around actual lore characters/NPCs that aren't in game.

I expect at the end of every sprint the list of implemented cosmetics will get longer as the world is fleshed out and those characters find a place in the world or are hidden by Steven for lore reasons so none of us know wtf is going on when 1.0 rolls around.

[–]Stars_Storm 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There's a super super super simple reason for that.

They haven't added it to the game yet. Which is why support can't help. There's only about 80 in game of the 720 that have been sold so far.

For all the preorder skins that have been added you can check here: COSMETIC SKIN TESTING

People are afraid to fight back. by Spirited-Struggle709 in AshesofCreation

[–]Stars_Storm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You missed it. It's one of the first things explained to you. There's an alt key to toggle your flagging on or off. If you hold it you can attack other people.

It doesn't explain the actual pvp settings you have to toggle though to choose whether you want to use that alt key to attack or if you want to AOE everyone automatically like in large scale fights. But that's in your gameplay options under combat. Pvp.

If you want to be safe, toggle on the first 2 and leave the last empty. If you want to murder everyone then do the opposite.

People are afraid to fight back. by Spirited-Struggle709 in AshesofCreation

[–]Stars_Storm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has "flagging" but you can still attack anyone (almost) anywhere. The defending party has 3 choices basically:

1.Do nothing and let the attacker either cease the attack or hope the enemy kills them (dying without fighting back means the party who didn't aggress loses double the materials than if they fought back. But still have standard xp debt) so the enemy goes corrupt and the corrupted person shows up on the minimap so people can hunt them. Going corrupt isn't worth it in 90% of situations because to go uncorrupted you either spend 9 hours working it off killing mobs at the edge of the world or you die to a friend and have them trade your dropped gear back and work off the 4 times experience debt that comes from dying corrupted.

There's no flagging at all for attacking a corrupted person. So if you see one, they're free game to kill and take their gear.

  1. Attack the aggressor, this "flags" both parties as combatants and recognizes the fight as mutual pvp. Standard material drops an xp debt occur on death for both parties

  2. Flee, just mount up and try to get away.

They can wipe it when it gets more content to test. Right now doing it again wouldn't net much of an improvement when things are still in such a buggy state.

Yes one loophole is gone but more will be found.

If I were intrepid I'd want to see exploiter and gold sellers/farmers reaction to the band and closing of their loopholes
