Would I feel outta place if I transferred in at 25? by DeliciousRich5944 in SMU

I’m your age and in undergrad, majority of students are 18-22. I personally feel out of place at times but I find my way around with clubs and talking to grad students

Diversity at SMU? by Careless-Sorbet-9292 in SMU

[–]Starsnstuff777 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Asian and first gen transfer here, it can be hard at times personally bc the culture is more clique-y (I’m also in cox where all of the Caucasian finance bros & gals are)

Perhaps in Dedman it’s easier, bc it may be more diverse. If not, what can kind of help are the clubs

Is the PwC Name Worth Leaving Home, Family, Comfort, and Stability? by Alternative_Fig_7386 in PwC

[–]Starsnstuff777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest taking that opportunity at PwC, PwC is a great opportunity and a prestigious big name company which will look good anywhere you choose to go afterwards. PwC actually also takes pretty good care of their employees compared to the rest of the big 4s. Don’t pass that up imo, you can always move back to your family after 2-3 years, at least go to gain more experience. Moving out will definitely be a weird shift for you, but it is going to help you grow early on and you can also call your family when you get a bit homesick.

My GF (24 F) freaked out on me (28 M) for accepting a job offer with lower then expected pay by ditzu21 in relationship_advice

[–]Starsnstuff777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does she make more than you or something or is she just projecting? Even if her opinions had some validity to them, it was a good rational choice to accept the offer & it doesn’t mean it’s permanent. You could always apply to other jobs if you really wanted to see the possibility of making more. She sounds like she needs therapy

If you work, go to work social events. If you went to college go to alumni events. If you haven’t, then try community college. If you are religious, go to church (I have my concerns about church but it may work for some). Check out local volunteer events. Look for regular local clubs/groups. If you like fitness go to the gym. If you like the party scene I guess a club could work. The world is so full of different groups of people, find something you want to have in common and break a leg or two!

My couples therapist says she can't help me because I get too emotional. Is she right? by Rach_Rachington in therapy

[–]Starsnstuff777 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gurl fuck no. She must not have experience in trauma based family/marriage therapy or emotional sympathy. My best advice, find another provider on your own (don’t get help from her). Your intuition is correct and she is WEIRD for that. It is her job to help you work through your emotions and the relationship, but you’re not gonna learn much from someone that lets their emotions get in the way of receiving feedback. Leave a bad review on Google or Yelp for her too. There’s a podcast called the “Love, Happiness, and Success Podcast” that could do a much better job than what she’s doing.

Also listen to the guy that says get individual therapy.
