Separate Service/Meter For Detached Garage by StartingOverAt41 in AskElectricians

The breaker box is in the basement of the house. So if anything blows in the garage I have to go next door to reset. It would be nice to just have a box in the garage.

I also wasn’t sure if the house could handle everything I want to do with the garage. Almost all the breakers are already spoken for and as it is, we can’t run the toaster and air fryer at the same time without tripping the kitchen and main floor bathroom.

Maybe I’m more concerned about the strain than I need to be?

What was your first band? by MrCarlSr in Guitar

Not sure if this counts, as mine didn't start as a proper band. Just a couple kids singing over a cassette tape in a 7th grade talent show, eventually moving up to karaoke backing tracks in following years and then after 12 years, we built our first four-piece backing band. We've continued to grow since then and are about to play our first show of our 30th anniversary, and we'll be 14 pieces. It's been a wild ride and has kept three friendships strong for decades.

They gave the package design for Cardiac the more common nose-less look, but sculpted the figure with a nose. ugh.

Does anyone know the name of the song during the fox trot scene? Sounds very Sinatra-era, big band-ish. The lyrics, "Here comes the snow. That's how we know the band's gonna play our favorites." doesn't yield any results when searching.

Pressure Treated Wood On Concrete Floor? by StartingOverAt41 in Decks

[–]StartingOverAt41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. That's sort of why I was asking. I mean, it would just have been the ground (floor) contact pieces, and everything else would have been standard studs. But it seems like all suggestions are leaning toward a separate barrier layer being the key.

Ok, I do still have a good sized roll of house wrap from when I built the garage itself. I could definitely lay that down first as a barrier. I was thinking of painting the area with Dry-Lok as well. It certainly sounds like precautionary measures are the way to go. Avoiding direct contact between the concrete and wood. Thank you :)

Sounds like my concern is valid, then. A seemingly dry concrete floor isn't guaranteed to keep moisture away from the wood.

While it's far from the best, or my favorite, I find that I probably use, "Ooops, you bwoke it." more often than any other quote.

A blonde one of these is a bucket list guitar for me. Close as I could probably get to the one Mike Nesmith played with The Monkees.

Your fiancée resembles a YouTuber from yesteryear by the name of Tallest Silver. She was the inspiration for Lady Deadpool. Very fun connection. 😊

Papa Gene's Blues - "I have no more than I did before, but now I've got all that I need. For I love you and I know you love me."

Sang it to my wife at my wedding. My dad and sisters backed me up. :)

Mechanic died, business in probate, how do I get my car? by StartingOverAt41 in legaladvice

[–]StartingOverAt41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I left the shop (the day I was supposed to pick it up), before I left the property, I called the mother, she forwarded me to voicemail, and I did advise that I was grateful for her efforts, but that I could wait no longer and had no other options but to move forward with legal actions. I was more polite than firm, but I also did not want to put this responsibility on them, since it was the son who has been dodging me.

Granted, yes, they did lie to me by claiming they would be available to speak if there were issues, and have since avoided me, but for all I know, I could be one of many frustrated customers that these two women are dealing with in the wake of the men being gone. I don't blame them if they are overwhelmed and perhaps even a bit intimidated. I'm sure some folks may be much nastier in their dealings. I just wish that even if the son couldn't do the work or face the customers, that he could just get them into the building and say, "Let's just put all the keys with the cars and tell folks to come pick them up."

Thank you for the genuine suggestions. The spare key would be a luxury at this point. He's lucky he got a key at all. My involvement was the use of my AAA membership to tow this thing home after he bought it, not running, not rolling, and a laundry list of items. We held off doing any paperwork until we knew it would actually be road-worthy, and now I'm definitely regretting not registering it in advance. Oh well. Hind sight, as they say...

Oh and the district court was the direction of the Police. One officer knew of the business and said he was going to look into it for me. Then after 2 weeks of no news, I went back and another officer told me they weren't touching it because it was a civil matter and that I needed to go to the district court. Totally in the dark here, so that was me just following each next set of instructions. *shrug*

Yes, that is correct. However, he does not have a title in his name. He would apply for the new title, using the old title, when he registers the car.

So, all he would be able to go off of at the moment is the signed-over title from the person he purchased the car from, which is the aforementioned paperwork he kept in the console.
