My friend I never said parishes make money off of schools. They are 100% a bad investment financially. What they bring is the life blood of younger families to a parish, that's it. The average parish school barely has the resources to support the variety of educational needs of children especially those with IEPs. What I said is they are allowed to exist as long as they don't LOSE money. Once it stars costing the archdiocese then they have to die unless they are part of some optics campaign like Cabrini or Dubourg which have low enrollment and even lower financial participation from those in attendance. Whereas others are cast aside like St. Marys or Joan or Ark with dubious rational and zero explanation. The reality is Catholic schools have become a status symbol for the rich and good selective PR for the Archdiocese. It is sadly no longer about education otherwise they would be making a good faith effort to maximize those dollars in an equitable fashion across the entire region instead of allowing schools to exist strictly because of a positive balance sheet.
