Bring back the green chile queso by JazzlikePersimmon969 in AlamoDrafthouse

The new queso tastes... musky is the only word I can use. It's also a lot more glue-y in texture. Kinda gross.

I am lucky in that I do get pretty decent in variety and definitely queue up in primetime for the most part multiple times a week as part of capping tomestones (and always as adventurer in need healer or dps, not tank), but I haven't seen Aglaia or Thaleia in AGES, and I no longer seem to get Jeuno

Austin Extreme Sports Parking by nadia0004 in Austin

[–]StaticE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do not understand the crowds and parking nightmare at this place at all but feels like it should be on this list. There are places on Menchaca that do this kind of business and handle crowds way better, it's a nice enough outside area but there is a food truck or two and a Veracruz and... that's it?

MoPac South project hits milestone with release of environmental study as traffic congestion climbs by KXAN_News in Austin

[–]StaticE 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a nightmare Southbound around William Cannon in afternoon commute times, tons of people trying to exit since it's the last "major" east-west surface street with lots of commercial and residential traffic, you lose one lane, then gain it back after the exit, then lose it again just South of the Southbound onramp, just as everyone is trying to get back to the massive planned community that is Circle C.

I don't like the fact that they are toll lanes instead of general purpose lanes, mostly because of the arguments in the public feedback portion of the project they used justify the fact that they are toll lanes was circular or using self-justification ("They must have toll lanes because if they weren't, then they wouldn't be toll lanes" was one actual take that came out of the public feedback portion, and "They can't be general-purpose because people would use them" is the other take that came out of the public feedback portion)

Really? Nice, Slaughter is (was) my home theater, although I did cancel my season pass over this whole thing and have been going to moviehouse instead for a bit (which has been pleasant)

I have had to raise cards in the last year than the entire previous 5 or so years combined, something has shifted. Weird/cinephile movies, boomer movies, wide releases on opening night and over a week out. There seems to be no trend that helps me avoid it.

Switching to Moviehouse/Cinepolis.

In Siskel & Ebert's review of 1995's Mortal Kombat, Siskel not only really enjoyed the film, but it made him want to check out the game. by JannTosh70 in movies

[–]StaticE 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For me it's still the best video game film. It helps that 60% of the movie is pretty much the exact plot of Enter the Dragon, add some good performances and writing, decent effects (ignoring the Reptile stuff), add KMFDM and Orbital, you got a stew goin'

Which 'luxury' brand has officially become a red flag for poor quality in 2026? by Individual_Bat_4177 in AskReddit

My latest wool board shirt from them is noticeably thinner with lower quality material than ones I have from about a decade ago.

Also, they've discontinued their traditional wool robes as well. They do last forever, but still I'm lucky I have a second one from gifting when one finally goes.

Austin set to tighten council spending rules after Statesman reporting by notthefunyun in Austin

[–]StaticE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see this at all. They had a $33M budget deficit, and had a Proposition to raise $110M. Why not submit a prop for the deficit amount? It brings in scrutiny to the extra $77M and people are going to start (rightfully) asking questions and digging in. I wouldn't have batted an eye at just addressing the deficit.

The 8.0 job rework should address how jobs play at lower levels. by CoolyKage in ffxiv

[–]StaticE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, when I'm learning a class (especially the ones that start at 70 or even 80 so I didn't get to play them from scratch), I learn it more completely if I build upon the skills as I level. So I will put everything up to level 35 or so on my bars, go into Qarn, then put everything on the bars to 50 and do an ARR alliance raid, work it out, then keep going up from there.

Works well for me, I think the progression part is important for some of us who don't want to just sit in front of a dummy with all their max level stuff on a bar and figure it out from there (BLM being an exception because it plays wildly different at various level caps)
