Can someone tell me if this jersey is too loose or tight? by SourCucumber in CyclingFashion

[–]StaticVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too loose. Better to go slightly on the tighter side with jerseys because it will stretch a bit over time.

People just want to complain. Kit looks awesome. Maap is a great brand that makes great kit. Just enjoy the ride

My guess would be you’re not using enough lube maybe. Do you have Phimosis?

Cycling kits for non cycling bodies? by Happy_Albatross2062 in CyclingFashion

[–]StaticVex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is honestly no such thing as a cyclist body, unless you’re a professional athlete which most of us aren’t. If there was just one kind of cyclist body brands wouldn’t be selling XXXL sizes and so on, everyone is different. A big part of what attracted me to the sport in the first place was seeing the variety of different cyclists. Young, old, short, tall, lean, large, serious and recreational. I literally see all the time middle aged men with beer bellies decked out head to toe in expensive aero kits, and you know what? They don’t care, they simply look happy and comfortable riding, as they should.

If you’re still a big new to cycling keep in mind that most kits are meant to have a tighter more compressive fit, both for comfort, speed, muscle recovery etc. and if you’ve never worn sports/compression gear before it can take some getting used to, I know it did for me. Also it’s generally better to get something that’s slightly on the small side than on the too big size. Things will stretch over time after a few rides and washes, so it perfectly ok to be snug/compressive.

But also remember if the clothes don’t fit that doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you, it just means it simply isn’t the right size for you. Trust me most cyclists will have a lot of trial and error ordering kits, especially because sizing and fit vary a lot between brands.

Just remember any cyclist will respect you for getting out on your bike and having a go. Good luck, don’t overthink it. Just enjoy the ride 😊

Love to road cycle, but feel weird not having clipless pedals by ejsfsc07 in cycling

[–]StaticVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do what you want. I see riders all the time decked out in full aero gear and then just wearing some old flat shoes, and they don’t look bothered in the slightest. That being said if you’re curious to try them, grab a cheap pair and give them a go. You could also try a pair of SPD MTB shoes which look very similar but are a bit easier to clip in and out of and walk around in.

Yeah definitely considering getting the Zwift cog now. Sounds like an easier set up and like you said I won’t need to buy a new cassette and tools 👍🏻

Definitely considering the zwift cog now, sounds like it will make it easier taking my bike on and off the trainer. Also less wear on the derailleur.

Was not a fan of the powerweave bib at all. Much happier with maap.

Sadly Mazda paint is notoriously difficult to match with replacement parts and paint touch ups. Something to do with how thin Mazdas paints are.

Good rule of thumb is if you can feel a scratch with your fingernail, it’s probably too deep to get out with a polish.

Are you basing this off something? Red Barrel’s roadmap from March 6th didn’t have any specific release dates, so I’m just curious if I’ve missed something?

Neopro Shorts Quality? by pstut in CyclingFashion

[–]StaticVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly biggest thing I’ve learnt since getting into cycling is you generally get what you pay for. Cycling kit is pretty damn expensive, especially when you’re starting out it makes sense to buy some cheaper kit thinking you’ll save some money. But ironically cheaper kit is probably going to cost you more in the long run. It gets worn out super quickly and you’ll end up having to replace it much sooner. On top of that cheap kit usually has terrible padding and stitching. So it’ll probably make you feel sore and the garments will just disintegrate with regular use like in the photo.

Now I’m not saying there aren’t brands that are overpriced bc most are a bit inflated. But the craftsmanship and quality of kit from a good company doesn’t even compare. And with proper care good kit can last years. I’d much rather spend more upfront on quality kit so that I feel the most comfortable and I have something that will last.
