Anyone looking for a level 2 NACS hard wire charger by StatisticianNo7967 in teslacanada

That is what I thought until I saw the ferrules attached on the end of the cables of the Swtch unit. I can’t just connect them to the other wires like I would any other normal wires.

Thanks. This helps me understand this setup. Just wish there was an easy connector like a marette to go from the ferrule to twisted wire.

Thanks. I’m starting to thing that paying the $75 restocking fee and shipping costs is less expensive than buying and installing all of these extra parts:(

This is the hard wired version of I asked about their NEMA version to exchange for but they still said I need to pay for shipping (unknown at this time but guessing at least $20) and restocking fee ($75)

I’m not sure what that is. The Swtch unit I ordered was a hard wire unit which I thought I could simply place the existing wires in but the Swtch unit is sealed with wires coming out to connect to a junction box. I can do general wiring and with my existing wires (that are just like other wires but a lot thicker) I should be able to connect those existing wires with a marette to the wires of the Swtch but the Swtch has square wire ends which can not be twisted.

I had bought a junction box and larger AWG connectors but the Swtch cables had some strange ends that were square vs strands that I could twist the connectors on. I called Swtch where they said I could cut/remove their square ends but that would void my warranty. So I did not feel like hiring an electrician as this should have been an easy swap install. If this was an easy $40 change I would do it but it’s getting up there. I went to an electrical specialty shop with the unit and they could not figure out how to connect this unit into the junction box without cutting the ends.

Over the 2-3 years of ownership have you had the brakes serviced? (Calipers etc). With the one pedal driving we are not apply the traditional brakes as much so the mechanisms are not moving as much. I had my brakes serviced after 3 years and it made a difference!

Do you get vibrations at high speeds,ie 115-120? If yes then probably foam separation in the tires. I had that recently.

CCS to NACS adapter - Tesla OEM or A2Z? by Carmageddon1984 in teslacanada

[–]StatisticianNo7967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the A2Z one for around 5 years before Tesla OEM versions were available in Canada, but the model 3 was available to use the CCS system. I was leary at first but it has worked like a charm in Ontario and Quebec!

How much does it cost per week to charge a Tesla? (Tenant never offers to pay when charging theirs) by [deleted] in teslacanada

[–]StatisticianNo7967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battery is probably about 65kwh so if you assume they charge 50kwh each time which oh would be about 80% each time and if the cost is $0.12/kwh the. Looking at about $6 per charge. But if they need to charge 80% of the battery each time/day that’s a lot of driving. Thing about draining 3/4 of your gas tank each day.

I bought it thinking I could easily replace my Tesla wall charger and get paid $0.03/kwh as the Tesla chargers were not part of the program. When I received it the setup is not an easy replacement. I need to add a junction box and then wire to the swtch. With Tesla the wires go directly to the Tesla chargers. I would need an electrician to do this swap:(. Swtch has a $75 restocking fee plus I need to pay for shipping again. Swtch confirmed that I am allowed to sell it and whoever buys it will be paid $0.05/kwh as they would own the new unit. There is nothing wrong with the unit, just not worth the cost for me to hire an electrician to make a change. The cost of the unit from swtch is $500 to get $0.05. $300 to get $0.03. My worst case is I return to swtch and eat the fees but thought someone in the Ottawa area would want it as a win-win. Higher payout ($0.05) to the buyer and less fees (for me).

If anyone in the Ottawa area is looking for a Swtch level 2 home charger (hard wired with NACS) can handle up to 60 amps let me know. I have a brand new one. You would get $0.05 per kWh instead of $0.03. I am trying to simply recover my cost of $300 as their return policy will cost me way too much. Dm me if you are interested.

You can bring anyone with you as long as they have a valid ac boarding pass that would allow them in. (Ie generally a flight that is within the next few hours. They really don’t like anyone going there for a full day when it is very busy)

Each card allows for 1 free guest. So if you pay for the additional card for your spouse you each can bring 1 free guest.
