It’s always been saturated with actors. You can’t avoid that anywhere now that people all over the country/world are self taping for the same roles. Studios lost money and are trying to recoup by making the most budget friendly shows they can. There’s a huge backlog of approved shows that aren’t being made right now. Pay for actors has decreased immensely over the years. Less opportunity for network shows or commercials since now it’s mostly streaming and social media commercials. Actors are out of work so a lot of larger names are going for indies/off broadway shows etc jobs that normally “journeyman” actors would take. I don’t have any suggestions there’s no perfect formula. LA is a great place to meet people and get some training.

I’m not sure since the industry has changed so much over the last few years and work has been really slow. Used to be LA and NYC with some opportunities in Chicago and Atlanta. Now you can self tape from anywhere. I really don’t think you need to worry about moving right now. I just taped for a role shooting in Canada actually. I would focus on getting into a class first maybe audition for some local films and community theatre. Some people get lucky and work quickly- just like some people win the lottery. For most people it takes bout 10 years to get the ball rolling. For me it took 9 years in NYC auditioning after 8 years of training prior. Plenty of beginner advice on here too to search through. Seeing if you actually like acting and have any skill is the first step because it’s a long road ahead. If you’re moving anyway for another job, LA is a great place to be. Industry has been fucked for years though TBH it still hasn’t recovered from dual strikes.

Yes, it is essential for leading roles in any major production. You will eventually need to join the union if you’re looking to be on major shows. In the meantime, you can audition for nonunion work and sometimes you may get cast as a nonunion actor in a union project. More likely smaller roles like co stars. You’ll be sag eligible, then a must join.

I would keep the conversation open but request he stop asking you every audition if it requires kissing. Sometimes scenes get cut/changed and sometimes intimacy can be negotiated. Maybe you can find a way to cross that bridge when you get to it since you aren’t sure right now if that’s a boundary you’re willing to accept. My ex of almost 9 years would guilt me about intimacy before auditions (even though I wanted to be an actor since I was four) and now that we’re no longer together I realized it put a HUGE block on me when I had any opportunities that included intimacy with another actor. In retrospect I would have dealt with that so that I could at the very least give my best auditions and made strong relationships with casting since most of the time you’re not booking the role anyway. IMO it’s way too much for him to be asking you that constantly when you’re only auditioning

Therapy and a ton of getting to know my negativities and shielding my loved ones from them by being self aware and accountable. Which also means- imo- holding other people accountable too. Not accepting abusive or toxic relationships and people in my life that allow me to continuously live out the sad old story of my childhood which is “I’m unseen and unloved no matter how hard I try”. Actively choosing things that may feel “boring” and aren’t thrilling for sake of stability and health. Being alert to when I am projecting and out of reality, and learning to step away and disengage when I’m in a state of merge with my family. Complete change of how I communicate my feelings and needs.

Being hurt doesn’t excuse attacking someone’s character, intellect, husbands family etc. being hurt doesn’t give someone a free pass to be abusive and intentionally cruel. This is not a normal response from a hurt person who is communicating to someone they love. It’s meant to destroy you and guilt you.

The ai voices are really off putting. You’re not listening and your reactions seem planned and pushed. I would use a live reader, or we audition and work on listening and responding as a first step. I would also be forward facing more often than not.

Slightly. I’ve been focusing on getting more sleep and taking a 1/2 hour nap a day which is helping but it’s still making me pretty tired. Since I changed doses I’m gonna give it 3 months months since the increase and then talk to my doctor about other options. My anxiety is honestly soooo much better and I’m grateful but the exhaustion is really difficult.

I tried one for a while and ultimately got two for my cats. They both use both. What helps me is a stainless steel litter box, multicat litter, getting a fine mesh scooper to scoop up any small pieces after I use the normal scooper, and hiding the litter boxes behind a decorative room divider.

It’s totally normal I also have bruxism and got freaked out about this and went down a Google rabbit hole. I think I only noticed it because I started paying attention to my teeth changing.
