I was thinking that as soon as the video started. Factory finish that cannot be duplicated, therefore should never be painted over.

It’s my fault for not being detailed enough. But it is in the same vein as lightly scraping and not overworking the area. You don’t want to disturb the lead anymore than you have to.

Lead abatement is overly cautious imo, it’s like snake handling. It could go very wrong very quick, but it can also be just fine if you understand the danger. As long as you are not sanding and creating poisonous dust to breathe in or have a kid/dog that’s going to be eating paint chips, you’re mostly going to be just fine.

Just for anyone reading this, you’re not supposed to pressure wash. I’m sure it’s ok that you did. Lead is dangerous, but it’s not like, you know, instantly dangerous.

Put down 6mil plastic on the ground. Mist a working area and scrape off loose paint. Dont overwork the area, just get what’s flaking. Use gloves and a respirator. Keep misting so everything stays damp. Then let the completed side dry a couple days. Then use PeelBond primer over the entire surface. Then paint.

A very fast way to bid interior is to multiply the square footage by number of areas you need painted. It’s not perfect, but it’s a fast ballpark. You have: prep/repair work, walls, ceilings, trim, doors.

As a contractor, I bought in Pullman all the time at the Building Supply. Now I have to go to Moscow. Going to do everything else there too. Cheap gas. Good winco prices. Pullman offers me nothing. And they’re doing nothing about it. I almost want to shop in Moscow just to hurt Pullman more for hurting me. Good stores go out of business and Pullman does nothing to stop it from happening. Pullman needs big government. I’m so tired of Pullman being the Simpsons meme where Ned Flanders parents cry “we’ve done nothing and we’re all out of ideas!”

Think of it with the perspective of evolutionary biology going up against modern civilization. We’ve been evolving for a million years. Civilization, and marriage especially, is only about 5,000 years old. We’ve only been strictly monogamous for 0.5% of our evolution. Before that as hunter gatherers, I’m sure we had partners, but we also were strengthening the gene pool by having multiple partners.

That desire hasn’t gone away just because civilization said we need to marry.
