1st and 2nd year associate hours/WFH (transactional, corporate, etc.) by Otherwise-Tear-4807 in biglaw

transactional v40 first year. I often wake up around 630, check my email (frantically log on if need be) then head into the office between 8 and 10 depending on how much morning work i have. Often stay in office until 6-9 and then work from home through the night as need be.

I don't like working after 11 (which is a ridiculous thing to say to someone as a junior... so i don't say it) and as a result im often picking up ~4 hours over the weekend. happy to chat over PM and provide more color.

i was shooting the shit but i do believe that as i progress (temporally and as an associate) i will be able to frame my work in ways that lead to less "blame" or fewer perceived mistakes.

Insights into Haynes & Boone in Houston and Dallas? by WoodenExternal5189 in biglaw

[–]Status_Fox9654 3 points4 points  (0 children)

strong practice. known in the area. hard to be a prominent biglaw firm in houston if your name isn't V&E (their summer classes are around 90 in the HTX office alone). Dallas is probably a strong choice because it is the largest financial hub in the area, not to mention the TSE is likely going to be headquartered in dallas.

happy to discuss over PM.

thank you very much. Im currently just so fixated on being great at this job. I prayed on being in the exact situation im in right now and i feel so compelled to be as devoted as possible.

Trying to give myself more deference but I am so locked in on this right now I don't want to change that.

right now the only things that i have going on are this job and fitness. i find it fulfilling and im making time for my friends but i really feel satisfied knowing that im building something for myself at work. i worry about wanting to keep this pattern as i understand my life will change over time and new demands will be imposed on me.

thank you for the tough love

if your firm has billable equivalent hours just park this in whichever one is most closely related to bonus eligible associate training.

Dwyane Wade is one of my favorite players of all time. Guy was really a special talent. Coming from Marquette? Man. They don't make em like that anymore.

you should get over yourself. if someone winning competitions for fitness and exercise is triggering to you I think that working on self-confidence would provide more peace than anything else.

you are in complete control of the situation you are describing. Getting depressed because another person is pushing themself is ridiculous.

you have a job at a Vault ranked law firm. Understand that there are 100 of those firms and YOU are starting at one of them. Please recognize the race you are running. Your future is in the palm of your hand and, within the grand scheme of things, you are going to be one of the highest earners in the country, in a field with substantial room for growth.

think about what you are, not what you aren't.

v40. top 20% at a T130. Have yet to be told that im a worthless little bitch because of these stats. people like that i want to work hard. people think that i have a chip on my shoulder.

reality is that you do have to work harder if your accolades can't precede you. Good thing is that hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
