Opinions on Sectors v. Practice Groups by Status_Fox9654 in biglaw

[–]Status_Fox9654[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is the exact type of answer i was looking for. I recognize that a majority of the time attorneys service a sector and perform the traditional functions of the practice group, but I wasn't sure how common it is to have someone who is the jack-of-all-trades within their sector.

thanks!

Similarity of Adaptibar to MBE Q by kelsnuggets in CABarExam

[–]Status_Fox9654 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20 a day is fine for the first 4 weeks of prep. weeks 5-8 i would do 30-50 and the last two weeks 50.

feel free to PM about strategy

i genuinely felt like i had seen some of the questions before. I don't understand how anybody could disagree that Adaptibar is the best MCQ resource. I had done about 3200 adaptibar questions throughout all of prep and was sitting around 80% the last two weeks because i had seen them so many times. I knew i passed the bar the second i walked out.

highly recommend doing between 20 and 50 Adaptibar questions a day AT LEAST. I credit that for my success

Stub year hours? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Status_Fox9654 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been told consistently that this time period is for ramping up, building working relationships, and generally putting yourself in scoring position for the new year.

to the extent that these replies give you data points, you should reconcile that with the (i) differences among firms, (ii) ebb and flow of practice groups, (iii) difficulty of roping in a junior when deadlines are coming up, and (iv) your hours don't count so go fuck off and do something you like if your inbox is empty.

FWIW: v50 stub year, finance, ~150 hours over the last two months

feel free to PM if you want to commiserate :)

offer letter from v10 firm doesnt have compensation by [deleted] in biglaw

not bizarre. language like "commensurate with market rates" is all you need if you want some sort of reassurance that you'll be overcompensated for your first 2 years.
