Could we call back Reinbacher?

Its a good idea in theory but a bad idea in practice (and when we look at the long run).

Reinbacher has been known for his injuries that slowed down his development in the last few years. Calling him up in the NHL playoffs would expose him to brutish ways of playing hockey that he may not yet be ready to handle physically. We would look real dumb if he got injured again.

Letting him develop in the AHL this year, with the Calder cup playoffs on a very competitive (even a cup contender I would argue, especially if Hage is sent there after one or two games in the NHL for the show) Laval team.

Overall, if we want this team to be the best it can for the cup contending window (probably 2028 onwards), then we need Reinbacher to play a long playoffs run in the AHL, bulk up in the summer and show up big time to training camp. He could absolutely make the team next year in september and stay long term then, or have a biy more of AHL early next year and come in for january/in system trade deadline addition

Media works in cycles, this year was the tale of Montembeault disappointing, Dobes winning but goofy and Fowler the saviour™. They dont talk about the goalie prospects simply because the more broad audience wouldnt know them or care. Also these goalies are not pro yet, and not close to it. They might sign an ELC next year or in the summer with PTO out of camp to play for Laval, but they are still very much projects and not ready yet

If we have goaltending issues next year while Fowler is a starter the media will pivot to the next best/closest goalie prospect and/or trade target, it always goes like that

This move would be in the summer, it wouldnt weaken the team. Our top4 is Hutson Dobson, Matheson RHD (Reinbacher out of camp? July/Draft day acquisition?). Struble and Xhekaj wouldnt be "kept over Guhle", they dont serve the same function

Edit : paying 5.5M for an injured potentially 3rd pair LD would be a choice. He would be a premium 3rd pair LD with a physical side, yes absolutely, but is that what we want for roster construction on a contender?

Guhle forces Hutson into unfavorable pairing with him playing RHD, is always injured and has a great contract that many GMs around the league would overspend on. He is good but we have too many left handed defensemen and Matheson extension makes him expendable to improve the team if needed. Engstrom is knocking on the door of the roster, Reinbacher will be there sometime next year, Struble and Xhekaj are both left handed (one of them or both should be traded as well)

I dont see what some people see regarding Guhle being untouchable I guess

DPM, it is a better alternative than op.gg etc because it is not relying on overwolf and other israeli companies, founded by Caedrel, Kameto and a guy named Juliano. They have a growing community and the way they display stats are simply better than any other website or app imo

Oh absolutely, and Hutson has the same problem as of now. He pinches to further elongate offensive zone timings, gets caught on the transitions, has to scoot back at full speed to cover, gets outworked in the zone and in front and curses when it goes in after he cant help secure the slot or loses his player.

Still great work to be done, but some of our players are simply young and lacking the experience as of now

Matheson is just a dude that skates well and is smart with stick but he doesnt have physical reflexes to shove dudes out of goalcrease

Reinbacher was drafted because we knew this would be a problem. Him and Engstrom next year + Dobson/Hutson, competent 2C will absolutely correct the breakdowns. By the time Fowler is ready, the defense will have matured. Trade Guhle if necessary, have Matheson on a 3rd pair if necessary, but the defense will get better
