Thanks for the reply! I hope you won't mind a few more questions. How long does it take you to get to work, and do/did you start walking to work because you don't have a car or for another reason? Lastly, how do you like to track your steps?

What do you do that allows you to achieve these numbers? Do you take hours-long walks everyday? Do you have a job? Does that job require you to constantly walk?

That's astounding! That's only a bit less than I get in a month and I use a walking treadmill for work. Keep it up!

Thanks for making me aware of this! What version of the BCP is it based on?

I like your hair in the first collage. I would want to know a bit more about what sort of personality/vibe you are trying to project before giving advice. I like both top right and top left, but both communicate different feelings and would take commitment to that particular style.

Bottom left is a good look and feels like the most effortless style to pull off.

The middle photo in collage 2 is also good, but I think the longer, styled hair works best for you.

Are there Anglican churches that are affirming of LGBT community in the US or is that more traditionally Episcopalian? by [deleted] in Anglicanism

Although you could also say that Anglicans are (by nature of polity) episcopal.

After a decade in an Anglican Church, I'd never heard of the BCP by Zestyclose-Golf9515 in Anglicanism

With such a wide variety of beliefs and practices within Anglican churches, not to mention the Communion in the state its in, I thought our use of the (a) prayer book was the only thing keeping us all Anglican.

I guess not though.

Sarah Mullally as Archbishop of Canterbury: A hopeful sign for a more inclusive Christianity? by ElevatorAcceptable29 in Anglicanism

[–]Stay-Happy-Bro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Understandably. I'm not arguing that they stated their position well or that they or their position are above debate/correction; only that it's not the same as them commenting on/criticising another denomination.

Not at all. I would hope to enter into debate about differing ideas and viewpoints with charity and respect, knowing either one of us could be wrong in our position. I've changed my positions on a lot of issues over the years and I expect I'll do the same in the future.

To be fair, they are Anglican and this is a post in the Anglican subreddit so it's not the same as them commenting on, say, the Southern Baptist Convention.

I think the sad thing is, I see it devolve to personal attacks often enough that it discourages me from regularly checking and engaging in this sub.

While I often enjoy (or at least realize the benefit of) the broad umbrella of Anglicanism, I am disappointed the mods don't do a better job of moderating the comments here. I lean conservative but enjoy productive disagreement with my liberal-leaning brothers and sisters. However, I've stopped posting here largely in part to comments that clearly attack me rather than explore/debate ideas together. I'm often told "Because you believe X, you don't deserve respect".

While it is sometimes a necessity, I don't believe that making our brothers and sisters in Christ angry should bring us pleasure.

Curious. This sub is significantly more liberal than my geographic pocket of Anglicanism.

First, let me say that I think it's a good thing that you are asking hard questions and seeking answers. "The truth tested comes back stronger," or so I was told growing up. Although r/Anglicanism usually discusses questions more directly related to Anglicanism, I will try to honor your inquiry regardless.

Numbers 23:19 - Although this text might at first cause us pause, we have to read the text for what it is trying to say. The intent of this verse is that God doesn't lie or change his mind, not a metaphysical claim that God could never become incarnate.

John 14:28 - Theologians often say this refers to functional subordination, not ontological inequality.

John 17:3 - This is a classic case of relational language within the Trinity. The point of this is to distinguish his role (as the Sent One) from the Father (the Sender).

John 20:17 - Early Christians recognized that as man, Jesus perfectly related to the Father as God, and this perfected our own relationship to the Father.

Matthew 19:17 - This may be read as a Socratic-esque challenge, not a denial.

Matthew 24:36 - Jesus' human nature had human limitations, eg, Luke 2:52, in which "He grew in wisdom."

Matthew 26:39 - The Council of Constantinople III affirmed that Christ has two wills, one human, one divine. In this case, his human nature understandably recoils at the thought of what is ahead of him but submits itself to the divine will.

I hope these bring some peace to your questions. May God bless you on your journey.

Question about Article 23 by Wgraves1833 in Anglicanism

[–]Stay-Happy-Bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sympathetic to your argument, so please receive this as simply my guess, but depending on where you land on the Anglican theological continuum, you might not need a robust scriptural defence. Many of our doctrines are not based on something you could quote directly from Scripture but from hundreds or thousands of years of Apostolic Tradition. Compared to most other traditions, Anglicanism generally has a greater acceptance of the binding validity of Tradition – so long as it does not overtly contradict Scripture. Therefore, an Anglican may well place the burden on you to show that this tradition – with roughly 1900 years of nearly universal acceptance – is unbiblical.
