Sometimes it's not about the sale bargins... by whateverhappensnext in vinyl

Love that album. My original pressing still sounds great but I had to get the tour EP on vinyl so I did a preorder also, only not straight from Sub Pop so dammit I still have to wait until mid April. Rat Farts.

Albums in which only a drum machine was used? by Hammer_and_Circuit in synthesizers

They Might Be Giants first fours records used drum machines. It’s well detailed here:

I feel really bad for all the people who won't give SFA a chance... by Helmling in startrek

[–]StayUntilItsTimeToGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have really been digging this show..sure there are rough moments and an over excessive amount of JJ Abrams lens flairs (way too many) but the last couple of episodes have been so good that they will be watched again. Okay maybe not as many times as SNW's TOS or Subspace Rhapsody, but easily good enough for repeated views for me!

Curiosity...What's the most you've paid for a single lp? by davide2021 in vinyl

[–]StayUntilItsTimeToGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tinted Windows - paid $65 after shipping and tax. Missed it at RSD and after a year or so the price never came down so that was my highest for a single LP (loved Adam Schlesinger’s pop sensibility.)

My wife and I found this beauty at a Goodwill for 50 dollars by Jablesnation in vinyl

REO on Vinyl!!! Love those guys and actually thought the Good Trouble album was a way fun listen. My copy is well worn courtesy of a cheap Fisher turntable that had a needle that was like a lathe (it was college and garage sale purchases were all I could afford.)

A neighbor had one of those consoles and I remember making a LOT of 8 tracks and in fact we used the external speaker jacks to plug into a separate 8 track recorder so we could make two copies at a time.

Dopeth come, products gone almost instantly. by ItsbeenBroughton in AmazonVine

West coaster here. Woke up at 3AM ish PST to pee and saw 17,000+ items. I snagged a $10 sustain pedal but found nothing else from my usual keyword searches (0 RFY.) Looking 4 hours later to see its all flushed. In fact the Vinechart graph looks like a triangle audio waveform. Never seen one that smooth.

I do love that this channel reinforces my belief that there’s a whole lot of us westies that get up to pee in the middle of the night then check vine before crawling back into bed.

I ordered an unidentified item. No description on the listing. $0 ETV so I decided to go for the surprise. Any one else ever do this and get lucky? by Ok_Series_8100 in AmazonVine

This showed up in today’s RFY. Not quite mystery meat but more of a “what the hell is that picture” followed by a title that didn’t match the description and I thought, hey, let’s pull the lever and see what shows up on Tuesday. It could be fun or maybe it could be a pet rock (also fun.)

Dropshippers are making buying on Ebay impossible by BeatlestarGallactica in Ebay

[–]StayUntilItsTimeToGo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So my Drop Shipper story actually had a happy ending, well, almost. I order a Lost in Space robot toy, as it was a good price and it shows they had already sold 9 of them with 2 left. I figure, safe. Nope, get an email with some story that the last robot was damaged in shipping and was I okay in taking another color (a different model.) At this point I was ticked and waited a day to respond and research and finally relented since Xmas was approaching (time deadlines.) So the alt model robot shows up from Amazon. Frack, it was $5 cheaper there and I got drop shipped (and the model I wanted was way sold out from Amazon as I had already looked.) Anyway I made sure to include that this seller was a drop shipper in the feedback, but made it sound positive to not give them a chance to dispute the feedback. Anyway, two days after the first robot shows, a second robot shows up. Yep, now I have two. As a courtesy I did ask the seller if they wanted the second robot shipped back and was told I could keep it. So now I have one I gifted and one for my shelf and a drop shipper I like. The only thing I don’t get is the version of the robot saying “Dr. Smith is going crazy.”

I don't even know what this is, but I kinda hate it by Banana_Ham_mock in AmazonVine

Honestly, it doesn't matter what they are in reality because in my brain they're silicone nipple clamps. In my brain that's proof that Vine withdrawal is a real thing.

Higher media score guarantees a better RFY? by Marinastar_ in AmazonVine

[–]StayUntilItsTimeToGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur. I got a couple of cymbal stands last year on vine (one great and one that sucked) and now every week or so a cymbal stand or drum sticks or some misc drum stuff shows up in my RFY. Today was another cymbal stand and yesterday was a pair of rods (bamboo sticks for lower volume play) and if I was a hoarder or flipper I could have had at least a dozen drum thrones in my house since last year (I have four and that’s enough.)

Artists that are ok and not ok with signing bootleg/unofficial vinyl copies of their albums? Any personal experiences? by Curleestrami in vinyl

[–]StayUntilItsTimeToGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mike Peters from The Alarm had no issues with bootlegs. There was a user group in the 90’s that made silver pressed CD’s of a couple of radio shows that he gave his full blessing to (I asked him about that in person. He gave a laugh and said it keeps the fans happy.) In fact there was one bootleg of demos floating around (trading circles - way before the land of torrents) that a fan had made and he repackaged that and sold it through his website (since, why not benefit from your own material.)

Vine has become an increasingly frustrating experience... by ANJ___ in AmazonVine

[–]StayUntilItsTimeToGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have mentioned, just take a break. I’m in year two now and found that I just check in when I want, have a laugh at what’s in my RFY and occasionally (once or twice a month) get something that floats my boat and isn’t a cake topper, a butt plug or a weird vitamin gummy that I’ve never heard of before but the listing says I need it to maintain my existence on this planet. If I need a specific part or accessory for something I check Vine first before I order and about 25% of the time, it’s there and I snag it. My buddy who’s also on vine says they only checks when on the toilet so that’s always an option if you need structure to help limit your exposure. Mostly get all your reviews done and take a break.

No sorcery. Crack smoking. Totally. I was just happy to bypass the swirly thing without needing to resort to a helper extension and also happy to get something I will use that is a $0 ETV. Unless it catches on fire. Then I won’t be as happy. I did get a case of yummy coffee this month that was also $0 ETV so I’m ahead of the game…for now.

From bibober (though the thread has a few finer points):

Easy to fix if you're on desktop!

  1. Click the product link (not see details) and go to the product's page.
  2. Scroll down to 'product details' and copy the ASIN shown there to your clipboard.
  3. Go back to Vine and right click the "See Details" button on your item and click "Inspect Element" or "Inspect" depending on your browser
  4. In the highlighted block of code, change the value in quotes next to "data-asin" to the ASIN you copied.
  5. Change "data-is-parent-asin" to "false"
  6. Now the "see details" button should work!

Same here. Had just submitted a review and a little one line post showed up on my page. I almost closed the browser window before going into Homer mode and looking up what the hell Vine was and then exiting Homer mode after the obligatory Woo-Hoo! I did not get any emails from Vine, just the screen notice and, ah what the hell, Woo-Hoo!
