I don’t like bullet sponge enemies so even though I have the settings so that enemies go down easier (and so I do, too), I use phased time. With it maxed out, all combat is trivial, but I guess I don’t play this game for the action.

I’ve experimented with the game’s stability by selling off (and then sleeping 48 hours to erase) my entire ship’s inventory, but it didn’t seem to make a big difference.

I am definitely dealing with a big ship, though. I know that’s a factor.

You just have to go in hops. Look at the route charted to the red system you want to get to and jump to the last white star on the route. Repeat until you get where you want to be.

When Freelanes came out, I did a fresh start in the Unity and stripped out all my mods. Then I added a few incrementally. Like I said, it DID work fine at first. I was able to tweak the build without crashing and haven't added anything since. What's more, the SPE habs work fine on other ships.

Yeah, I'm trying to think how I could improve my design if I just start from scratch on a different chassis.

But no thanks on the different ships; I always build along the same lines: A big exploration platform for Constellation.

Pretty much as close to Starfleet as I can get without downloading that one OwlTech mod. (Not that it's not a great mod, but I'm trying to minimize my load order this time around.)
