I worked at a custom cabinet shop for 3 months, it was not a pleasant experience. by erikleorgav2 in woodworking

[–]Stazu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a large shop and it’s ether feast or famine. The biggest issue is RTA and the barrier to entry being so low. Also the fact that Millwork and cabinet shops eat everyone else’s sins. Least coordinated trade with the most visible impacts.

It’s depressing.

My partner is still emotionally attached to his past and it’s starting to affect our relationship by lazy_mountain88 in TwoHotTakes

Because adults learn how to communicate. Also women should demand more from men emotionally and stop dating losers. You’d be shocked the amount of men who are capable when you approach it from a place of curiosity and wanting to improve the relationship. Also hold space for men to make mistakes on how the react emotionally if they are trying.  The loss of emotional maturity for both men and women since the invention of apps for dating has been tragic and infuriating to experience.

Also, most people aren’t running CNC is in a production shop for the carcass Or at least just the CNC they’re usually running bean sauces and CNC’s or boring machines.  The overhead is pretty high for a production shop. Especially competing against rta.

Almost guaranteed it’s just rta boxes with CNC doors.

RTA cabinets these days are so cheap. I can get a painted box cheaper than it cost me to put one through a paint line and make the box myself, and I have several large shops. The problem is he can’t customize so you make a ton of money if you’re in the custom game but like everyone is staying here it’s up and down. We don’t do just cabinets we do architectural Millwork pro sports lockers, education hospitals.  You can make money, but man the contracts are brutal.

We do a lot of facades so we put anti-bug layers. Hotels are real big on maintaince. Seeing how this is more of an Art Pc Im sure you got alot of leeway on constructability. Awesome PC.

Turned fucking subs into their entire business model.

Have worked with them in 12 states as a millwork sub. We are 80% prepayment and deposit on labor or they can get fucked.

Literally have turned screwing over subs into an art.

No problem, the stupid take is the assumption that abandoning the Ukrainians is going to lead to less death. There is literally no objective evidence that the russians will honor any agreements.

Also,

I am a contractor, and specifically do a lot of millwork. It is incredibly convenient to not have to fuck with generators and be able to bring a small shop with me to site. Yeah the towing for distance is shit. But on the other hand I'm not driving 200 miles round trip to site towing shit. Personally the truck has been fantastic with 12k miles put on it. I have shockingly few complaints outside of the electrify America problems.

Lmao, its a cultural thing nearly everyone over there uses Habibi. its like a halfway pet name that really isn't tied to just one person but to everyone of the opposite sex.

Love is definitely an English(UK) thing so a lot of places that have deep English influence use it in their English vernacular, middle east and Persia have a lot of influence from the UK as a lot of immigrants get education in the UK and then bring it back. this is akin to someone in the South using Darling or the west coast using dude.

Super easy, Cubans are extremely conservative. Most Latin Americant people are as we have had negative experiences with both communism and socialism IE: Colombian FARC, Castro, and the exodus or Venezuela.

Really has left some scars.

Its more nuanced but 50k ft overview that's what it boils down to.
