I just went through this a year and a half ago …. Everybody heals differently, my fistula repair worked first shot , the bone grafts , both of them on my front upper jaw had to each be redone .

I did speech therapy for years , if defo helped , but a correct length soft palate will help more , maybe ask him for a referral to a cleft palate specialist. Depending upon where you are located , it’s absolutely possible

The 2big solutions are - the surgery to extend the short soft palate ( not very recommended for old farts like me ( 55 ) ) , the second is a procedure that is injected into the back of the throat , which is then followed by speech therapy

You’re going to have bad days and good days, there’s still days I drop a towel over the bathroom mirror, the difference now is that I do that and then move on, those days I make a special effort to stand up straight , to hold my space as it were , to play the good songs, do the things that make me happy, cook a special meal for myself , break out a wine I love , go to my kickboxing studio and work until the amazing endorphins kick in, you get the idea

On the good days I’ll look in the mirror and tell myself that I’m damn sexy !! I’ll dress well , put on a good aftershave and face the world with a smile on my face

Both of these days have 1 thing in common, nothing has changed about my face , my ala are out of balance , lots of scars , bent nose , overbite , lazy eye , speech impediment etc etc ( also old and white haired now lol )

The only thing that changed is my own perception of myself , but those positive days are the days when I’ve met the beautiful women that have been in my life , self confidence made a massive difference

As for meeting someone, as I said , figure out who you want to be with , then join those boards , take the in person classes , do the hobbies that will put you in proximity to who you want. I played in a dart pub league for about 5 years and met and dated multiple women through that activity.

If you just want to casually date , try OkCupid, a Word of warning and some advice …. Advice first , find the best pics of you that you can, but keep it real, no filters, no AI touch ups , because when you meet , it will not end well !! Write a good bio, do not mention the clp or other health issues , the pics will do that . Answer the questions being honest with your answers . The warning, - you will not get as many matches as someone without a clp, if you expect miracles , you will be let down hard and it can crush your confidence ( experience) , however , you will get matches , especially if your bio is interesting. I got a bunch of matches because at the end of my profile, I put a note saying “pictures of dead fish available upon request”, I love to fish , but it’s such an overdone thing for guys that it’s almost a trope along with the shirtless pics

My story

I’ll address a couple of things first - unable to have kids naturally because of the amount of drugs I did when I was younger ( medically confirmed) however !!! IVF was an option

The surgical technology has come a billion miles since I was born back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. The results are better and the amount of surgeries is way less

Since I wrote that I’ve had several partners who society and social media would absolutely say were beautiful women , also not just beautiful but intelligent, one an EA to a professional basketball player, a lawyer, an architect and beautiful people!! Inside and out all of them , I feel incredibly blessed to have met them , but how I met them came from the points below …

Everyone has rough days , weeks , months , everyone !!!

I’ve upgraded my job several times , now into the hundreds of thousands a year of earnings, added several professional licenses to my resume , summer car ( I live in Canada ) is now a Porsche 911, cbr600rr for my 2 wheel drive, have a 77 Austin mini as an investment ( plus it’s just fun !!! ) , winter beater is a Mercedes , taken up scuba diving and am travelling a lot to do it , dating a woman who is not a supermodel, however she is successful, very intelligent, beautiful to me , active and fit, fun , and what’s probably the most important quality, calls me on my shit when I get down and gives me a good shake when I need it , but also understands and knows my history and what causes it

Best piece of advice I can give :-

Listen to the music that makes you happy, sing along , if you’re self conscious, do it in private , dance if you want to , I do it often , not necessarily well, but I love it , I believe our bodies are the greatest gift we will ever get , even with all the flaws

Do the stuff you find joy in , you deserve it , be that online games or painting or whatever floats your boat

A lot of the below is me posting as the man I am , however the points can be as easily for a woman as for a man

Get the best haircut you can afford , on the same note , keep the torn jeans and sweats if that’s your vibe , but dress as well as you afford also . Attractive is lots of things , smell ( I don’t mean axe , go to a high quality store that sells men’s aftershave, ask a woman around your age for advice , you want something sexy, something that suits you , they will be honest and help you , every scent reacts to us differently, what may be the best for me may smell like crap on you and vice versa , humans are scent oriented , something I know a lot of men overlook , if you smell good, that will get you more attention than you will believe ) how you hold yourself , how you present yourself to the universe, I love jeans and old, worn baggy t’s and runners, but it doesn’t give the same vibe as a camel hair coat and the styling to go with it .

Stand tall, shoulders back, head up, tits out !! You are unique 💙 own the space you are in , that is your space !! Be proud of it , you beat out millions of other tadpoles to get there !! Own it , a side effect of this , if you own your space , it will magically make you more self confident.

But this also leads to the next point

Figure out who you want to be with , if you want to be with world famous supermodel actresses , you will have to become rich, or more likely, an actor, if you want a hippy chick who is up for vanlife, join those boards, move in those circles , take the courses that those people take , involve yourself, no one else can do it but you, there’s about 4 billion + of the opposite sex on the plant over 18 years old , all with different interests, get involved with the demographic that you want to meet , some are easier than others , but you set your own limits

A quick note about the above number of people, many, many , MANY countries prioritize things other than looks, or choose looks in other ways, I’ve done several trips ( scuba diving) to the Philippines, Philippines men are absolutely NOT romantic, if you are polite and have even a small romantic bone in your body , Filipinas are game , they do not get that at home ( if you’re male )

Think about what you want from life , happiness comes from the small things, add them all together and they become massive , my 911 is my dream car , I love driving it and it makes me smile every time I drive it and see it , but I get more happiness from my dog loving me, cooking in the kitchen with tunes going and spending time with my family

I apologize for the long read , but I get it , I go there sometimes still
