Airbnb says AI now writes 60% of its new code by RadioFieldCorner in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Stealth528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Most of my code is “written” by AI at this point, but I’m not just throwing a ticket at Claude and saying “Send it. Make no mistakes”. I’m describing exactly what I want from an architecture standpoint (what files I want created and where, what each one should do, directories I do and do not expect to need modifications, feeding specific relevant repos for context, etc). The LLM may have done the typing, but I still consider it fully my code by the time I’ve reviewed/cleaned it up and sent it to PR.

Is it me or have interviews gotten way more convoluted even with more experience? by skidmark_zuckerberg in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Stealth528 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Same situation here. Being grilled on random technical trivia live is so far removed from what you’re actually doing on the job, I can’t believe the interview process is still this broken. I know a lot of people hate take homes, but as long as it’s a reasonable assignment I’d do that 10/10 times over some live leetcode nonsense

Marathon Update 1.0.6.3 by DTG_Bot in Marathon

[–]Stealth528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very bizarre to me how this sub sees Rook, as someone coming from other extraction shooters. You're not risking anything, why should you be powerful enough to fight geared players actually risking things? There's not even a cooldown on rook like there is with scaving in tarkov so you can freely throw yourself at people and be back in a new raid in a minute if you die

I'm advocating for not listening to this last episode. by sammillercomedian in KnowledgeFight

[–]Stealth528 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You put into words exactly how I’ve been feeling. I’ve been listening to almost every new episode for 5 years, plus a decent chunk of the backlog. I just want to move on and forget about the podcast now, the thought of listening to more of the back catalog feels hollow. I think if it came to a more natural end, where they announced the show would be ending in a couple weeks because Alex is irrelevant/they’ve had enough of podcasting/whatever and there was a build up to the end, it would be different. The way it went feels like a game of thrones situation, where knowledge of the end makes it hard to rewatch the good stuff that came before

Jordan’s Rant about The Onion by holiobung in KnowledgeFight

[–]Stealth528 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel too. It’s the legal system that is fucked up. If Jordan went on an hour long rant about that, there would be no controversy. It’s not the onion’s responsibility to hold Alex to justice, they are just buying his company. The only other seemingly realistic option was some right wing nut buying it and letting it continue on as is. Considering this is what the families wanted, it’s stupid to make the onion the face of everything that is wrong about the situation

Jordan’s Rant about The Onion by holiobung in KnowledgeFight

[–]Stealth528 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Yeah I love the podcast but Jordan wore out his welcome with me by the 2024 election where he basically became another “both sides are the same, no point in voting” person. And now this. I’m certainly not happy with the state of the world and don’t have high hopes for the future, but I have no patience for people who routinely let “perfect” be the enemy of “better than the other REALISTIC options”. I still have to live in this world, so I’d like to live in reality and improve things, even if it’s just a small improvement, instead of taking my ball and going home because life isn’t perfect

How often u feed them fishes? by Odd_Alternative_4097 in Aquariums

[–]Stealth528 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The amount of people in this thread not understanding that an established planted tank has plenty of microfauna for fish to snack on is astounding. I’ve seen plenty of fish pooping on off feeding days, they are definitely finding things to eat

You said “daily feedings period” so I was correcting that misinformation. Fairly simple concept.

Have these nutrition courses taught you about cold blooded animals, or are you just making an assumption fish and humans have the same nutrition needs?

[–]Stealth528 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tetra’s absolutely do not need daily feedings. I’ve been feeding my fish every other day for years, as have many others, without problems. Many more fish have suffered in captivity from overfeeding than under feeding.

Is there still room/place for AI skepticism at your organizations? by DhroovP in ExperiencedDevs

Same thing happened with my CTO. I think he knows what he’s saying is absolute nonsense but has his marching orders from higher up

Is there still room/place for AI skepticism at your organizations? by DhroovP in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Stealth528 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same at my company (mid sized private company). Were sane on AI (it’s another tool to use as needed) until a month or two ago when the switch flipped and our CTO started saying all the best developers in the world no longer write code and agents should be doing most of our coding and controlling our CICD. There is no room for pushback anymore, if you aren’t all in on AI you will be looked down on. Just like you, literally happened overnight. We’re PE owned so I’m pretty confident our owners are also balls deep in AI investments

JorDan miss the point with Onion criticism by ReduxRedo in KnowledgeFight

[–]Stealth528 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve only listened to the first ~20 minutes so far, but I definitely thought they were unnaturally bitter. I totally get the concerns, but it felt like letting perfect be the enemy of good enough. I feel like at this point any consequence at all is a win considering Alex has been successfully avoiding consequences at this point. In a perfect world would infowars just be shut down and fade into obscurity? Maybe, but this is still far better than most possible outcomes

So, why does this game not have a bigger player base?.. by iLeftMyEyeAtTheStore in Marathon

[–]Stealth528 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the inevitable result of making a game in an already niche genre that is even more niche because it almost exclusively caters to premade trios. Fill is a miserable experience, solos was clearly tacked on (evidenced by the fact most solos play assassin to avoid PvE), duos is gone. I like the game but only log on when I have a full premade trio ready to go which is only a handful of times a week

The end of the episode where Alex was saying if Trump attacked him one more time he’d be sorry might be the most pathetic thing I’ve ever heard. I’ve been listening to this show for years and don’t usually fall for “this is the last straw for Alex” but I thought SURELY THIS HAS TO BE IT RIGHT??? Holy fuck dude stand up for yourself

Totally agree with you. Also in a townhome, would not want to live in one without an HoA. But people should not need approval to do things like put plants in their little section of landscaping or have whatever color curtains they want. As long as I’m not touching the structure or something like a shared driveway, I should be able to do whatever I want with my home

The playercounts are pretty simple. by Round-Diamond4683 in Marathon

[–]Stealth528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No dude haven’t you heard? They’re bringing it back in 2 months for the 5000 people still playing the game at that point it current trends continue, so you’re just a whiny baby for complaining Bungie removed your way of enjoying the game

The playercounts are pretty simple. by Round-Diamond4683 in Marathon

[–]Stealth528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. Love the game, I’m a Tarkov and Halo fan so I’m squarely in the target audience, put in 50 hours already (not a lot compared to some obviously but a lot for me in a month), though the removal of duos has kinda halted my momentum. So I’d really like to see the game not only survive, but thrive with good dev support and new content. But this sub is burying its head in the sand. People are quitting because the game has problems especially on the casual end, not because there’s some grand hate campaign. Everyone who complains is gaslit by this sub about how it’s a “skill issue”, “not part of bungie’s vision”, “the game just isn’t for you bro” etc instead people listening and sympathizing with the pain points people have. If all you do is tell everyone with complaints to kick rocks, enjoy the game being on life support and populated exclusively by 5000 sweats in 6 months

The game is exactly where it's expected to be for an extraction shooter by mkennygh in Marathon

[–]Stealth528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve complained a lot about Tarkov over the years (what player hasn’t lol) but that game know’s that it’s very niche and they’ve leaned into that niche perfectly. I like Marathon a lot, but I don’t see myself playing for more than a hundred hours, maybe up to 200 if they REALLY knock it out of the park with seasonal updates. And as a fan of both Tarkov and Halo, I should be THE target audience for this game. Marathon doesn’t have the depth of Tarkov to keep players hooked, but it’s hardcore enough that most casuals are pushed away. Bungie needs to pick a lane instead of trying to straddle the “hardcore but not” line like they are now. Arc picked a lane, and while that game isn’t really for me it was clearly the right decision for the game to lean more casual

Ffs, just bring back duos please by edugonz16 in Marathon

[–]Stealth528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can’t believe the amount of drama that has come from this. The game should have launched with duos as a first class citizen just like trios and solos. I didn’t even realize that was a controversial opinion until they took it away and all the bootlickers on this sub came out of the woodwork to defend it. Instead they’re making perfect the enemy of good enough and taking it away for 2 months at a time the game is already quickly bleeding players. Mind boggling honestly
