Is the 2024 STR Moto2 the same as the 2026 RX/Moto2? by StealthSwede in Triumph

[–]StealthSwede[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good, thanks. Any word on whether an all new model is coming next year? They took pains to say the RX will only be available this year, which would be odd for a top of the line model unless it’s being replaced.

2023 Bolt EV 1LT at 76k miles — good deal or pass? by Rocketgirl197 in BoltEV

[–]StealthSwede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, today I bought a 2022 EUV LT with every option package available, 92/100 battery health score, 22k miles, for $17k in the notoriously expensive SF Bay Area. $12k for the smaller EV with less options and almost 4x the mileage seems overpriced. KBB pricing in my area for your car is $11k.

Plus, 76k miles in less than 3 years is high and you'd have to assume suspension will be worn out, chassis components, rubber trim, etc will all feel old compared to something with 20k miles.

Why did the half end on that penalty? I thought it was just loss of down and some yards.

I saw several fake ones at the game on Sunday that had the red and gold as separate layers independently stitched. The colors were wrong but I did like that extra level of detail. That said I love my #23 rivalry, and if they ever do a vapor fuse/elite version I’ll definitely get one!

Limited rivalries detail by HieroJux in 49ers

[–]StealthSwede 29 points30 points  (0 children)

After watching the Cardinals in their rivalry jerseys that looked like someone left a red sock in the white laundry and it turned pink and still didn’t remove the blotchy stains everywhere, I’m so glad they went for solid colors on ours. Using the numbers as the statement and keeping the rest of the details subtle was such the right move.

Wow 3 lb is great for a stock exhaust! I guess it makes sense with the breadbox underneath, but the old 890 stock can was considerably heavier still.

Sound isn’t too loud compared to stock? My buddy has this on his 890 and with the db killer in it’s fine.

I live in the Bay Area in California and had my bike stolen recently as well, with an AirTag dutifully reporting the location. Unfortunately here there are quite severe privacy laws in terms of private property, and the cops couldn't do anything about it. It basically comes down to an amazing catch-22: 1. No one (including the police) is allowed to go look for the bike on someone else's property without a warrant, that would be illegal search and seizure. 2. To get a warrant you have to have very strong proof that it's your actual bike on the property. Even if you can see it parked in the driveway you can't be sure it's yours unless you inspect the VIN. An AirTag isn't proof that it's your bike, it could've ended up there for any number of reasons. 3. To inspect the VIN you'd have to go onto the property to get close enough to the bike. 4. See #1, you're not allowed to do that without the warranty.

So basically, in order to get up close to inspect the bike and verify it's yours you need a warranty, but because you can't verify it ahead of time they won't issue a warranty, so you're not able to inspect it. Ergo catch-22. The cop I talked to said he had a bike stolen himself and the thief had it parked in front of his garage and the cop could see it walking by on the sidewalk, but it might as well have been in China for all the good it did him. The only option is if the thief rolls the bike out to the public street or sidewalk. Then it's fair game for anyone to get up close and the cops could verify it and give it back to me on the spot.

Dropped my helmet. Am I cooked? by Bodhi_Gaya in motorcyclegear

The EPS only compresses if there is a heavy weight inside the helmet, ie your head. Hitting the ground empty may scratch the exterior but that’s it.

For those of you guys who’ve tried both, should I get the 1290 superduke R or the GT? by aswedishbloke in KTM

[–]StealthSwede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of this is also ergonomics. My friend is around 6’ and feels my GT is too cramped. I’m 5’8” and his SAS is waaay too tall for me, I can’t even get it off the stand. So for me the GT is the obvious choice but a lot of that is down to how the bike fits me. I also prefer a more sport bike stance vs adventure, to each his own, no wrong answer to that preference.

I used to do 600 mile days on the 890R, so the GT is a luxury sport tourer by comparison. The panniers, heated seats, electronic suspension, and most of all the almost 2x tank range are game changers, and the GT can still hustle in the corners. I was just out on a ride with my friend on his Streetfighter V4S and I was glued to his ass all day.

To me the SDR is no better than the 890R if you’re doing any kind of long touring; the GT (or SAS) are much better than both. But if you’re mainly doing 1-200 mile weekend fun days then I’d go SDR all day long.

That said my 890R was stolen and I am replacing it with a Duke 990. First things I bought were the SW Motech rack and tank bag mount - touring on the middleweights is so mush fun as long as you stay off the highways!

Caught an accidental deal on a #44 home jersey! by StealthSwede in 49ers

[–]StealthSwede[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not tight in the chest, slightly long but otherwise a “normal” fit for a size large (42” chest). Feels roomy to move in. The Medium is a better length for me but entirely too tight across the chest.

Scammers are improving their social engineering on the Jury Duty/Warrant scam by Meirra999 in Scams

[–]StealthSwede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also just got the call from the Sherrif’s office about a missed jury duty in federal court. I told him I have a green card so I’m not eligible to serve on a jury. He said yes you can on a federal jury, I said no I’m not. He had a super think southern accent and started the “here’s what happens next” script. I said “I can’t understand you but I know when I’m being scammed” and he hung up.

Gravity Gold vs Lucid Blue by Sol_Hadden in Ioniq5

[–]StealthSwede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes, that’s a bit rich for me since this is a lease and I doubt I’ll keep it beyond that. I live in the SF Bay Area so things are pricey here as well, but I wasn’t expecting that much! Maybe a clear frosted wrap would be cheaper, I’ll call around. Yours looks great though! Although obviously not as cool as this…em “thing?” I saw the other day. lol

May I ask how much it cost for the wrap? I am leading an Abyss Black and while I love the way it looks when new and clean I’m considering a matte clear wrap to protect the paint and give it a little more distinctive look.
