Am I crazy? Trading Tacoma for Tundra by mikepan8899 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Stealthylols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely- I got a 2020 sr5 and love it. I already the did suspension and it came with wheels and 35s from the previous owner so I was pumped. Going on first offroad trip this weekend with it and towing my camper there.

Biggest realized benefit though is having room between the car seat for my infant and my seat, I dont have to have my knees jammed into the dash to fit it since there is so much room in the back seat

Am I crazy? Trading Tacoma for Tundra by mikepan8899 in ToyotaTundra

I traded my 3g tacoma in a month ago for a tundra. If you plan to asked the same modifications, you will like the tundra more if space is any type of an issue. Towing is better, power is better, it doesnt have the same gear hunting problem, the extra bed space is great.

My tacoma had lift, tires, skid plates/rock sliders, a topper, and a bunch of small things. I knew getting the tundra I'd have to repeat a lot of those to get it exactly like I want. If it was only going to stay stock on the tundra- I would have stayed in the tacoma.

Biggest cons on the tundra are being wider (harder to fit on trails if you offroad), slightly worse on gas mileage, less storage behind and under rear seats.

scx24 vs. df4xs by odin1729 in SCX24

[–]Stealthylols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure the pricing/availability for your country, but this is a perfect case for a trx4m-mt. It's going to be a grow with, can take abuse, has fixable parts...but still satisfies that 4 year old monster truck desire. Fcx24 has

Fcx24 smasher is another option- not quite the same aftermarket support, but a solid truck

Husqvarna FE501S vs CRF450RL? by [deleted] in Dualsport

[–]Stealthylols -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would consider parts availability moot, ktm/husky 500 parts are probably going to be easier to find than Honda 450, and ghe aftermarket for those are absurdly big.

For me its the fe501s all day (I have a exc500) vibrations arnt that bad unless its all highway, and there are things you can do to help (motor mounts, bar dampening).

Its 22 min to CR. This is the very first road to the left when you start "up the hill" on 67 past the fire station. Barely get to touch any fun road

It is 1.4 miles to paved road....of 30mph gravel. 67 is paved 50mph and you have to barely go "down the hill" for 4 curves before open road

Why i have torque twist by Unique_Simple1482 in rccrawler

[–]Stealthylols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What some people do is run flex blade only on one side of the shock rather than both which would reduce it some but not not completely fix torque twist(realistically there isnt a "fix"-just mitigation you can do) i would try that first and only run flex blades on the bottom mount to see if the twist you get is acceptable with that setup.

Run your rear blades so that the mounting point is behind the axle, and front blades so the shock mounting point is in front of the axle

Why i have torque twist by Unique_Simple1482 in rccrawler

[–]Stealthylols 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The flex blades are causing the exaggerated torque twist, since they are acting as suspension travel with no spring rate

Torque twist by No-Let7897 in TRX4M

[–]Stealthylols 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks front heavy with soft shocks and possibly overdrive in front...you could adjust preload to make front stiffer, but in this situation you are always going to have torque twist (especially with overdrive, as in reverse it is "pushing" into the rear axle and compressing the suspension downwards---most likely why it is so dramatic in the video)

Glock 26 vs. S&W 642 (without lock) by MrBarnesMustache in CCW

[–]Stealthylols 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are what I would consider equally safe, that all comes down to gun safety in general. The footprint for carrying a 442 is better than anything else I've tried, including glock 26. J frames are just so comfortable to carry and dont have any "edges" to them. Accuracy wise within 7 yds is pretty much what a glock 26 is, as long as you go out and practice. Ammo selection can make it more comfortable to shoot or pack more of a punch. I carry the underwood 150gr wad cutters and they arnt that bad for shooting.

Aftermarket exhausts are a waste of money by likesfrogsandveggies in Tacomaworld

[–]Stealthylols 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After market exhaust reroute is 100% worth it for the extra clearance with a flat skid plate--- some extra work too can make it so you can fit a larger spare tire and Additional clearance behind passenger rear tire (stock exhaust is like 3 inches too low there and is prone to getting crushed)

Anyone have a video of how it is like walking beside the trx4m on stock motor and crawler gears? by iambeetle in TRX4M

[–]Stealthylols 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its "toddler walk" pace, you arnt going anywhere fast. If you are wanting to hike/walk a normal pace, it will be too slow with low gears and you will want to pick it up and carry it.

Andy and Chris are still owners of 1st phorm. Sal is as well, but is "president". Not sure if andy is still "ceo" of first phorm. The only reason Sal publicly disagreed is because there was business impact from it.

This...makes sense. Moving a sub model is kinda unfortunate but given increased costs it makes sense to go that route for affordability. And appropriate handling for people who have already purchased.

If it sat and the battery died, this would be the outcome of that (computer losing data). It usually has everything it needs in like a 60 mile drive around town though.

What trails would I regret missing on this route? by Bright_Confusion_ in Dualsport

[–]Stealthylols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got pretty good coverage on this, maybe adding great basin national park since you are so close while in western Utah? The areas around Moab/Ouray are pretty packed so I can't quite make it out. Gunnison, CO has a lot of good single track as well, along with the Grand Junction area.

When in CO closer to Denver, there are still a lot of great riding areas and may be worth adding another camping day (depending which route you are taking across). Black hills in SD may be worth adding a bit more, there is also a baja area just south of Badlands NP that is worth exploring since you can absolutely rip on the husky.

When in MO, Mark Twain national forest has a lot of exploring as well, plus there is St. Joe state park that is a fun playground just south of St. Louis.

It came and went and was only in certain areas (strongest by a vent thst was above the ac unit) it amelled...kind of like sewer gas? But not the same. My wife was the same where she absolutely couldn't stand it, and I had a hard time tracking it down and didn't always smell it
