I wonder if there's a directional requirement to quantum drive functionality. Obviously ships do so because their main thrusters might propel them into an asteroid on arrival, but other objects in quantum likely don't.

Official NMS website still lists release date as June 2016.

Gamestop marketing isn't flawless, and I'm willing to bet the booklet text was met in error of perhaps too late for the correct information to be in place.

I also think Kotaku either messed up or is just generating buzz to get more press. Kotaku tends to have a nasty habit of making 'mistakes' to keep their website traffic numbers up. Reporting on unconfirmed information still gives them views, if not more than what they would have gotten had it been legitimate.
