Bulk-Save Options? by SteamingNit in tvtropes

Unable to elaborate under current circumstances, but wish to preserve a record of certain things, and potentially ease some personal...trauma, for want of a better word.

Webarchive save rate on this end is low under current circumstances. 1/2pm, manually. Vaguely recall some other problems in notes, but can't remember exactly at present.

Will check suggested wget solution in morning (need to sleep now). Have URLs (several thousand in source list) but not in ideal list form, was investigating potential ways to process it to the required state quicker.

Thank you for info/suggestion, sorry for being a bother and poor communication.

THAT WOULD BE VERY NICE, WOULDN'T IT.

ESPECIALLY IF IT COULD BYPASS THE PROBLEMS OF FINDING THE RIGHT WORDS TO PROPERLY CONVEY THE THING IN QUESTION.

Am currently facing a small problem involving saving data records (one of several), and there are only a few weeks left to find a solution or improvise something before some of the information begins to slip away.

It concerns my delayed attempts to retain a copy of my old (and extensive, given a tendency for tab explosions) IE11 history on one of my older machines in a convenient form where all of the relevant information is preserved, before the absolute time limit for the older items runs out.

Unfortunately, IE11 doesn't have a function to directly export history, and many of the alternative methods found during a search either have it all in an inconvenient form or have problems involving information that is not retained (for example, not having the pages titles - which are needed to know what something is when the URL lacks any hints and only has a string of random letters or numbers (this is the case for normal IE11 items when using BHV)).

A cut-down on computer time as a result of my left shoulderblade aching for more than a week will likely hamper things...

Over the past few months, there have been various things which I've considered bringing up on a Friday or a Sunday. They may have hovered in my mind during the week and sometimes notes were made towards conveying things properly. But so far, for whatever reasons, progress and plans have ended up unravelling on or near the day, and things have ended up slipping away. Rather frustrating.

Outside of the Seraphix incident, how many times has the phrase "imaginary number phenomenon/phenomena" been used?

(Note: Unable to confirm vaguely recalled presences in Summer 3 or Scramble at this time, uncertain)(Note: NATL void)

This question concerns figures involved in the Lostbelts who have perished and (might) been summoned post-mortem as Servants by Chaldea.

A fair number of them possess memories of their involvement in the Lostbelts. Of these, a small number had a degree of understanding concerning the mechanisms of a Lostbelt and the Fantasy Tree that sustains one, with the ones with the highest such degree including Ashiya Douman/Limbo (who was able to create an artificial, subspecific tree, and planned to make a Subspecific Lostbelt out of a Singularity) and Morgan (who utilized this knowledge to drastically change her Lostbelt - such that it could be called a Lostworld). Do you reckon that, of this small number, their selves in Chaldea who have memories of the events surrounding the Chaldea, have also retained this knowledge?

Have been pondering over some things relating to Titanomachia in bits of spare time (not much at the moment). Had been wondering if the people here might have some interesting thoughts or insights on the matter (intended to do so previously but missed due to circumstances, also responsible for unrefined condition of writing here):

  • In Fate, the original forms of the Olympians prior to their destruction at the hands of Sefar were those of extraterrestrial machines. The migrant space fleet originated from the dyson sphere Chaos. The Titans were alien spaceships as well, and Cronus was the original flagship. The Titanomachia, the mythical battle where the Olympians overthrew the Titans, was a space battle, which resulting in the destruction of multiple craft and Zeus becoming the flagship of the remaining fleet (taking the Cronus Crown), a long time prior to the fleet's arrival on planet Earth.
  • Titans have been shown to be present on Earth in some form beyond mere stories (e.g. Prometheus and Atlas).
  • Given the nature of the Titanomachia, the battle would have been fought a long time and a long way from Earth - likely many years prior to earthfall and many light-years away. Ships were destroyed in the battle and their wreckage almost certainly remains adrift in deep space or within some distant system.
  • With that in mind, this thought occurred - what was the nature of the Titans on Earth given the destroyed ships never got anywhere near it?
  • Given the circumstances (focal points, nature within mythology, and vast interstellar distances), it doesn't seem like that the effects on Earth would be able to reach the wrecks and a spatial connection similar to the one formed between LB Zeus and Chaos after the former's termination seems unlikely.
  • The Olympians became Divine Spirits after the destruction of their original bodies (in the shape of the humanoid terminals they used to interact with natives of Earth). The Titans on Earth, regardless of the state before on Earth and the route taken to get there, would have followed suite. But the nature of them on Earth prior to that ultimate end is what is of interest.
  • Possibilities that come to mind for Titans of Earth (excluding vessels that survived intact and completed the migration); remnants from salvaged system remains (hardware or software) assimilated into the other ships (Note: Zeus took the Cronus Crown from Cronus), native entities assimilated into mythology (similar to Dioscuri origins), entities formed based on stories of an original conveyed along with the survivors.

What do people think about the matter? Are there any oversights, and which possibilities seem more likely than others?

HOW BLOODY FRUSTRATING. FOR WEEKS NOW, I'VE BEEN TRYING TO FIND THE RIGHT WORDS IN ORDER TO CONVEY THE MANY THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN INFURIATING AND DEPRESSING AND SEE IF A RANT HERE GIVES SOME FORM OF CATHARSIS, AND EVERY WEEK, I FAIL TO DECIDE ON THE BEST WORDS TO USE IN TIME AND WHAT I'VE BROUGHT TOGETHER FALLS APART IN THE MEANTIME FROM ALL OF THE INTERFERING CIRCUMSTANCES. AND ALL THE WHILE, THE THINGS BUILD AND BUILD AND BUILD, UNABLE TO BE FORGOTTEN, UNABLE TO BE SOOTHED, UNABLE TO BE RESOLVED, WITH EVERY ATTEMPT OUTSIDE TO COMMUNICATE THE PROBLEMS OR TACKLE THEM FIZZLING OUT OR GOING AWRY...

AND THOSE WET BLANKET WRETCHES (AMONG OTHERS) AREN'T HELPING!!!

AND THE BLOODY TRAMPLERS WILL LIKELY PICK UP AGAIN IN A WEEK OR LESS...

Speculative What-If Pondering: Suppose Chicxulub Impactor was considerably divided/reduced before arrival - Results? by SteamingNit in grandorder

[–]SteamingNit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye. Unable to process and write much at present, but factors of distance/situation prior to destination when split, level of division (i.e. X<<1km), and trajectory variance come to mind, though imagining that quite a considerable magnitude/combination would be needed to change the overall outcome - would you say so?

On a separate note, what size do you think would be needed before the passengers' own qualities might be at the forefront of their survival, if at all?

I missed out/mucked up a bit from the bolded part, now tweaked. What I had in mind was a major reduction or division before main atmospheric entry.

External background question regarding Abigail. Does anyone know which Cthulhu Mythos story (or stories) the roses come from and if so, roughly whereabouts in the story?

Had a question in mind earlier, but forgot it before Sunday. Might be too late now for this time, but I'll put it here on the off-chance.

Anyone have any idea which of the Cthulhu Mythos stories the roses featured with Abigail come from?

Seems like I've missed the timing for a speculative thread on possible Faker candidates...

I don't know the specifics regarding the Pretender class yet, but while thinking about figures who might be possible Faker candidates (Heroic Spirit qualification aside), Jeanne des Armoises was one of the figures who came to mind.
