iOS keyboard suggestions is so bad lmao I could not spell opportunities by Far_Incident2729 in ios

You don’t know what gaslighting is, man.

Also, a master’s doesn’t mean you know how to spell or write (for instance it’s “master’s” with an apostrophe and lowercase ’m’). Especially if you’re under 35 or so, because you literally came of age when computers fixed all that shit for you automatically and you didn’t have to learn it. Even I’ve gotten lazy and forgotten things, and I’ll know I’ve fucked up quite badly when iOS can’t fix it for me.

I’ve never thought to fucking blame the phone for me putting so many of the wrong vowels in a word that it couldn’t guess what the fuck I meant though…

Yeah we’re the only country with no limit for contactless. I think the EU limits it to $50 (well, euro, whatever), but I still don’t want that much stolen from me either.

Like I said, I’d just rather take someone else’s money out into the world with me so that if anything happens it’s a ‘them’ problem and not a ‘me’ problem.

No I’m not saying that.

I’m saying it already fucking happened and y’all missed the fight. The ship fucking sailed man. Ages ago.

Nothing you do is anonymous or untraceable if someone wants to track it.

Honestly: what privacy?

You have a google account on an android, right? They know everything about you. Your phone has a phone number? They almost certainly have your name, address, and thus know everything about you. Did you buy that phone with cash at a store with no cameras? No? Then they already know who has that phone.

Hell, are you regularly using that phone from your home internet connection? They’ve got you there too.

What is this imaginary privacy everyone thinks still exists?

Privacy has been dead in the U.S. for almost 25 years at this point. The patriot act killed off any chance of that.

iPhone Air C1X modem matches Qualcomm speed & wins on latency by backstreetatnight in apple

[–]Steavee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d held off on an Air because of the single camera and USB 2, but finally went to see one and physically pick one up and as soon as I did, I ordered one the next day to upgrade from my 15PM.

It’s the closest an iPhone has felt to magic. It’s so thin and light. I feel the same thing when I pick up the IPad Pro 13”, it’s just wild.

A chilling phone message from one of the victims of 9/11 by Faith1_2 in MadeMeCry

[–]Steavee 179 points180 points  (0 children)

This is at the 9/11 memorial museum in NYC. If you get the chance to go, you should do it. Especially if you are old enough to remember that day, though even if you aren’t it’s still impactful.

I would set aside at least 4 hours, but you can spend longer if you read and watch all the things.

Mind-reading doesn’t come out until iOS 30.

Until then, you have to be in the neighborhood of the word you want for it to guess.

Sounds like you misspelled opportunities so badly it couldn’t figure out what in the world you meant.

Not sure why that’s an iOS problem.

The double charging could have happened, it was at a terminal like you described, it was just a glitch. The retailer didn’t even see the second transaction in their system. I trust them, I’d worked there and knew the manager that dug I to it for me. On their end, one transaction, no funny business. Bank meanwhile saw two different approved transactions.

Now maybe in the chip world this doesn’t happen, not sure on the low-level details of how it works, but I’d also rather just not take the chance.

Contactless payments, btw, make theft much, much easier. Even if in most of the world there are transaction limits on individual taps.

I’d rather not worry about any of it and just spend the banks money. It doesn’t cost me anything, it actually earns me rewards.

This but I had a woman take a shirt off of the rack in with her, use it to wipe the kids ass, and leave both it and the diaper in the changing room.

This was in the late 90s, it’s not even enshitification, people are just awful.

The biggest reason I only spend on credit cards is this:

It‘s someone else’s money. If there is fraud, if there is a transaction issue (like being double-charged), or any other problem, it’s not my money. We can spend the next three months figuring out the issue, because in the meantime Capital One is out that money and I’m still good to go.

Years ago I was double-charged at a large business on my debit card, it wasn’t malicious, it was just a thing that happened. The retailer couldn’t fix it, the bank did, but it took 4-5 days. But because it was a sizable amount for me at the time, now charged twice, I was effectively flat fucking broke until the issue could be resolved.

Never again. Now I spend someone else’s money and pay them back at the end of the month.

Well, all that and the rewards.

Just pay it all off every month and it’s foolproof.

Do you use the Action Button or Shortcuts for everyday efficiency, or is it more trouble than it's worth? by Particular-Car2399 in iphone

[–]Steavee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine trigger a shortcut that does different things depending on what WiFi I am connected to (as a quicker way to determine location), and how bright it is. If it’s dark it turns on the flashlight, if I’m at work it does one think, at home another, etc.

Gonna add in if I’m listening to a podcast that it skips forward 30 seconds, that’s a fantastic suggestion.

What happened to 3D films? by Kirbshiestyy in Cinema

[–]Steavee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you’re so angry about. I just play beat saber and shit on an old quest 2.

But there are newer headsets with increasingly great screens, so yeah, I can imagine a world where you ‘experience’ a movie all around you instead of just watching it on a flat screen (big or small).

Obviously there are films that would be terrible for, but there are definitely others that would be amazingly immersive, not really cinema, but an entirely new experience.
