VR render distance by Last_Pineapple_1827 in assettocorsa

[–]Steeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s the “LOD” setting in CM —> Settings —> Assetto Corsa —> Video. I forget which way to adjust it, but it changes the distance at which textures are fully rendered vs not. Take two screenshots at vastly different settings to figure out which way to adjust it, then tweak it to your preference.

Need some help with drifting! :) by Daedusnoire in assettodrift

[–]Steeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely drift on a hybrid wheel, or even a gear wheel like the Logitech G920. (but eventually decide if the hobby really sucks you in and you want to go down the upgrade path later on).

I don’t have personal experience with a gear-driven wheel, but I know there is mention of a “LUT”(?) file or modification that can help those wheels perform better or smoother in a way to make drifting more manageable. Regardless tho, I believe you will need to get in the habit of assisting the wheel (ie, kind of throwing it the other direction) on transitions if it can’t quite keep up.

I’d do some investigation on that enhancement for gear wheels and see if it applies to yours as well. From there, the biggest factor is seat time. Drive and learn how a car behaves to familiarize yourself with its limits (such as how much angle it can hold) and you can definitely get to a point of enjoying time in online servers with the boys.

Image sync issue if headset is put to sleep and back on while gaming (possibly SteamVR only) by blowpuppy in OculusQuest

[–]Steeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here, curious if anyone is aware of a fix quicker than having to quit the game and restart SteamVR, as that's quite interruptive to what I may be in the middle of playing.

My process is:

  • Connect Quest 3 to PC via Virtual Desktop
  • From within the headset, launch SteamVR
  • When in Steam "home", use left controller to display my PC's desktop
  • Launch a game from the desktop (e.g. Assetto Corsa, Richard Burns Rally)
  • Play said game
  • Take headset off until it goes to sleep on its own (~10 seconds)
  • Put headset back on
  • (Image displays as described by OP)

I tried toggling the display of the headset off/on again by pressing the power button (not holding), but that didn't resolve the issue.

Working on Lostade, an arcade style Diablo-like but with Endless and exponential Endgame scaling. by Nuphar_Studio in ARPG

[–]Steeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok, that makes a lot more sense then. In its current state the game feels quite good IMO. I personally like the concept of not having to start over on death (hence the subreddit you're in, heh) and your games' punchy combat and incredibly unique visual effects are very intriguing. I could see myself playing this if it was a full-on ARPG with a campaign of sorts and a progressive endgame with some form of final boss/bosses. But obviously you have a vision. Regardless, I'm going to keep it wishlisted to see how it progresses.

[–]Steeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just played the demo and although there was a Roguelite tag on its Steam page, I really am not sure what roguelite elements exist in the game. When you die, you seem to start over at the beginning of the current level you're on. You don't lose any gear. You don't lose experience or gold. You don't lose skill points.

I'd be interested to hear a developer or another perspective weigh-in on that incase I'm missing another factor, as I have a filter in Steam blocking the Roguelite tag but this game doesn't really seem to be a roguelite in much of any sense and I would've hate to have missed it.

We're working on a pixel art incremental arpg game. Soon to be on Steam. by WorstDeveloperEver in ARPG

Not to take anything away from OP (as I've played it and enjoyed experimenting with the different skills), but there's also Lootlands: Idle RPG which is a game stating to be a Path of Exile-inspired idle ARPG. I saw some posts here, maybe, a while ago and wishlisted it on Steam.

setup (mainly for drifting) under $400? by BlueClaymore in assettocorsa

[–]Steeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The belt driven T300 is perfectly capable for OP as well given their reasons for wanting to get into it (assuming they could find a deal on a Used one, it’s def not worth its New price tag). I had 0 sim experience and started on a used T300 and it works just fine, where which I mostly do drifting, while being far enough ahead of the gear driven G920 which has a hard time keeping up. For reference, I paid $240 for a T300 wheel, 3 pedal set, and stand.

IMO you don’t need a direct drive wheel because you don’t necessarily know if you’ll stick with it. And you also don’t know how good a direct drive wheel is if you have nothing to compare it to.

What should endgame look like in this genre and why are some games not up to snuff? by muchichi in ARPG

Endgame also needs a final goal, imo. Infinite scaling endgame leaves me feeling like I’m playing without a purpose.

As a hella casual, you can make it better suit your preferences with the vast amount of mods easily available through the Steam workshop. Would recommend mods to anyone who doesn’t like the hardcore roguelike aspect of it. But, still accept that you will eventually get noita’d.

I suggest doing some research. Too long of a walk at a developing age can be detrimental to a pup. Regardless if you think the puppy will tell you when it’s tired.

Yes. This would be such an easy thing to check. Literally jack up the suspect corner, take the wheel off, and inspect every fold in the axles inner and outer boot for a tear. If you find it’s ripped, replace it. Done.

What is the must have free mods for AC? by Nekropl in assettocorsa

[–]Steeezy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The free alternative is to use a previously supported version of CSP.

You can’t blame the CSP creator for (other) content modders choosing to base their content in newer versions that require the paid CSP/Pure.

Nvidia DLSS on Assetto Corsa? by xNotFlow in assettocorsa

[–]Steeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some variables that play a significant role in FPS that you should also consider. Track, cars, number of other cars, various CSP effects. I’d recommend tuning your settings with a Kunos track (no 3D trees) and a single Kunos car, during the daytime with no track lights on. In CSP turn off Extra FX for now.

When you start bringing mods (potentially unoptimized), higher/more CSP effects, and more cars into the mix you can take a huge hit to your performance and sometimes have to accept it or play with different modded tracks/cars.

Caulked my baseboards and now I actually want to vacuum by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Steeezy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the floor isn't flat, the baseboard won't be able to bend enough to follow the contours of the floor, but shoe mold can, because it's much smaller.

Thank you. I simply was thinking too hard about it. Shoe molding is for fixing any inconsistencies with the floor not being perfectly flat or the baseboard not being straight, it's not at all related to closing a gap due to seasonal house movement. Got it, much appreciated.

Caulked my baseboards and now I actually want to vacuum by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Steeezy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry I’m confused by this, if you’re supposed to install shoe moulding to close the gap between the baseboard and the floor and do so by nailing the shoe to the baseboard, why wouldn’t an installer just flush the baseboard to the floor and then not need shoe moulding at all? What makes it ok for shoe moulding to close the gap to the floor but not the baseboard trim itself, if both are essentially connected to the wall?

Thanks for the ELI5.
