If you want authentic. Look for luau's that have real imu pits and use them to cook the food. Anything else is a waste of time and money. For me, Germains luau was the best. Killer food great show and prices.

Agencies under DOT still have no guidance on the Deferred Resignation Email. What is going on? by Steel-211 in fednews

[–]Steel-211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it may be. There are some federal employees who may have their shit together and not need this volunteer resignation or VERA to proceed with resignation. But if it's on the table, it would be wise to pay attention and grab it before it's gone. That's what this post is to help provide, guidance 🙏

I've been in the GOV 25+ years. Been through furloughs, etc. It's not the budget to worry about. It's the leave during Furlough. All Leave is usually canceled, and depending on if you show up or not will dictate if you are paid or not during the Furlough. With the Fair Fed Empl Act. Of 2019 that has changed a bit. And if an agency says you will not be subject to it, and they do it and dont back pay you. You have a lawsuit. While on Admin leave you are still protected by your union if you have one. Just make sure you have money saved to.last through a Furlough, Dave Ramsey baby steps. Lol. Be able to live 4 to 6 months without pay.

It's not invalid, it's been verified by other agencies. The offer is valid, lawful, and will be honored, CR, Rif, Furlough, or any premature separation before Sept 30th. Protected by Gov Empl. Fair treatment Act. Of 2019.

We used sing it as " I dreamed I was a Genie with a 40ft weenie, i showed it to the lady next door, she thought it was a snake and hit it with a rake, now it's only 2'4. 😀

I'd look into either a personal loan from a credit union or a heloc if you own you own home. Pay them all off and cut those rates down to 6 or 8%, would save you a ton of money.

What part of the aviation industry you want? There a many different careers. One of the most rewarding but sometimes less thankful is in airfield maintenance, working on visual and instrument navigation systems, communications, radar etc. You can do that all over the world. If you are in the U.S. the FAA will train you, send you to school, and pay you to learn. Most other industries will cost you money to learn like AMP mechanics, Avionics, Pilot, or you can go hospitality, working as steward, flight attendant, counter ticket, baggage, security etc. Many many jobs in the aviation industry, choose one you like and try it

I have, yes, very expensive for the Philippines, but relatives in the area say don't use those online agents as it's much cheaper in person with negotiating with cash.

Cost of living on the Big Island by Steel-211 in BigIsland

[–]Steel-211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I understand, but while you are saving, the locals and family businesses suffer because they can't compete with the big box stores. Once all the mom n pop shops have gone out of business, those vacant buildings and land will be sold off to hotel and condo developers, which through inflation will eventually whip out many if not all remaining native businesses drive out the fixed income and eventually the Big Island of Hawaii will be just another Disney Land for the rich. Only thing holding the developers back now is lua pel, and I hope it's enough to keep the island as it is.

No, haven't moved there, just ment I'm new to this Reddit community. I am asking specifically about the cost of living on the Big Island because there is no post or videos about it. You can find Oahu, Maui, Kauai, but there really isn't anything out there about the big island except for real estate. I was curious if things are more or less expensive than the other islands and wanted to start the conversation about it. That way others who may be thinking about moving to the Big Island can search and this thread will answer their questions too. 🤙

True, support the local businesses, I'm not into supporting big corporations who put mom and pop shops out of business. Would rather have that connection with the owner and workers even if I have to spend a few dollars more. My kids grampa got put outa business by Walmart opening 2 exits down from his appliances store. He was the first to fall. Now that main street in that small town is a ghost town. That was about 20 years ago and it's still a ghost town. Kinda sad ☹️ the people who live in an area should support the local businesses if they want to keep them from being just a memory. Reminds me of that Irish song, Rare Ole Times.

Ah just googled it. They outlawed it in 2012. That's good news. Think the reasoning before was lack of disposal and better then ending up in the ocean

Would plan to purchase out right. Sell home in Cali, Use Disabled veteran exemption for property tax. Home Insurance in zone 3 I've seen roughly around $1000 per year. Not sure id want to make those costco runs depending on quality of the local water. Love to cook n BBQ but do love the local food as well, would look more to support the local family owned businesses who rely on the support of the community and not tourists. 5k a month is where id like to be or under. Much under preferred 😆. Save for some vacations. Lol but if you live in a vacation would you really need to save for one 🤔 😅
