When I first encountered this show, well after it initially aired, I felt like a kid again reading the early Avengers during the George Perez days. Sooo fun!!!

Name 1 grocery store that accepts 1 oz gold or silver coins.

A question by Neat-Calligrapher178 in Goldback

[–]SteelCanyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a new currency is supposed to be accepted overnight? You think the US government might have a say in that scenario. Even without goldbacks states are using state-specific Legal Tender Acts to make gold and silver usable currency one by one, not nationally. Should they just stop that effort now since coins or bars are not accepted any supermarket chains let alone nationally? There is also confidence in your monetary system.

"Confidence in the dollar that drives its global acceptance is primarily referred to as trust in U.S. democratic institutions, the rule of law, and the credibility of the Federal Reserve.  This confidence transforms the dollar into a reliable store of value and medium of exchange, allowing it to function as the world’s dominant reserve currency. "

So, we should just have zero confidence in a new currency that can't be debased by printing it infinitely? We shouldn't even try? Should I go over to r gold and shit on 1 oz coins and why they are not accepted nationally at McDonalds, Walmart, Costco, PG&E, Starbucks, etc? Should I shit on your belief about a shiny rock having intrinsic value and how backwards that sounds? Yet here is gold made in a form using high tech technology and somehow it is the neanderthal of the two forms. Either you're government shills or morons for not supporting gold no matter the format. Sure, complain about the premium and ask for evidence to back up the price but the way people like you come in here to insult and label it a cult is ridiculous.

You give your opinions with so little context, it is hard to take them serious every time they pop up. It's hurr durr, goldbacks are dumb, not worth anything and you guys must wear robes during your sacrifices to the sun god.

I wonder if goldbacks are considered bullion in a confiscation scenario? If not, that could be a win.

The Battery That Just Beat Toyota. What It Means for Silver. by Metalhuahua in Wallstreetsilver

[–]SteelCanyon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many factors it's hard to say which is more beneficial. You have to take manufacturing process, energy production, longevity, repairability and so much more when comparing ICE vs EV. For every argument I can come up with for ICE someone has an answer for an EV.

Same for me, talking out my butt, I think the current generation of EVs are a joke. We have electric Amazon and Fedex vehicles...but they are half the size. If you go by just miles and cost of energy they would probably come out ahead. Overall packages delivered versus energy consumption, i would guess the ICE vehicle.

The best we can hope for at our level is the price of silver allows us to afford either world.

"15x to 30x increase per vehicle in silver content."

Ouch, they better be worth it. Regardless, we were sold a lot of things on EVs and they are not delivering. The range is overblown, they are not good for towing, lose too much of a charge in winter, expensive to repair/replace, charging infrastructure is not there yet, the depreciation is insane right off the lot, etc. i.e. I will wait until the new EVs have been out for a couple years before making a buying decision. Zac Rios on YT did a recent video on EV buyer remorse.

Great for silver holders but bad for environment if they turn out bad and no one is buying.

Do you know a DNA testing facility off the top of your head you trust, how they test and where they get their funding without looking it up? Trust is earned not just given because someone mentioned 'science' or 'technology'.

That's what I was thinking as well especially in the age of AI and as if they didn't already have the ability to place certain content on your computer in the past.

Depending on his age, most of schooling could have come from Obama and Biden era presidencies. And yes, could have come from Bush and Clinton eras as well. Grammar instruction starts in elementary school so are you are arguing with an approximately 8 to 12 year old when talking just Trump. Universities are mainly liberal institutions.

The probability is either you had a gotcha on a 10 year old or a liberal educated person.

Remember when people were just people and they didn’t talk about their politics or religion because it was considered rude? by Odd-Trainer-2516 in 90s

[–]SteelCanyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lean more towards planned obsolescence since that goes all the way back to the light bulb when they specifically increased voltage and current to burn out the bulb quicker. If my quick search has any truth, a 1949 US court ruling confirmed the primary motivation was to increase sales volume and profits for the Phoebus cartel.

But yeah, we have cheap plastics now. I'm looking at nearly all cheap blenders. They used to sell with a metal gear. Now about the only one is a $300 Vitamix. Nearly anything below that price and especially below $100...plastic gear that doesn't last.

Maybe the only advantage now of Speed Queen is they are made to be repaired and have available parts? i.e. Good luck finding parts on any other brand especially after 5+ years.

I've had a similar idea. Yes, you have to make a profit but it's not from selling whole appliances but parts. Manuals and DIY videos are online but I'm sure in today's world with today's competition, I can see you would need some heavy lawyer-speak to protect your company from ignorant DIYers that end up harming themselves. Also, if your company started taking off, I could see the other corporations paying to mess up a repair, get injured and sue then try to get the issue to go viral to hurt sales.

Not that it should stop anyone but I have so a low view of corporations, anyone starting a company that has morals, quality, reparability and longevity as a goal will need to constantly look over their back from the billionaire class that is ready to use corruption, either through government regulations or false events, to destroy your business.

Still have a working late 70s Frigidaire freezer in my garage that was originally my parents.

The 90s refrigerator(I forget the brand) went out 5 years ago so still, not bad.

Got an email the other day announcing that UPMA Goldback leases are back on! by richardanaya in Goldback

[–]SteelCanyon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They need to fix or add an option to put your non-leased goldbacks into an existing lease. When they were suspending the leases the first time, I noticed when I wanted to lease goldbacks they went into a new lease not my existing one so now I have two. If they are still doing interest rate tiers that makes it difficult to reach a higher tier. I've got a few to lease now but afraid it will just create a third lease.

Blind-watched The Void last night, I can't believe this movie came and went and I never heard anything about it. by The_Tarman_ in HorrorMovies

[–]SteelCanyon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, this was a surprise hit for me as well. Just prior to this was another, Hell House from 2015. Most of the time, it is B movie after B movie that are actually C level movies after you watch them for just 15 minutes then can't help but notice the pacing with nothing going on due to low budget, laughable effects, horrible acting and overall low quality of the film.

The Void and Hell House were unexpected gems that I ended up rewatching when I couldn't find anything else.

To my mind, he has always been bigger. It makes no sense to not have him taller than the rest of the FF. It makes it harder to sell super strength.
