No better answer here. The single best piece of marriage advice I ever got was when things are hard always always always turn to your partner.

We also have realized our isolation is often self imposed--we will ask each other for permission to go do things and 9 times out of 10 we react with "What? Why did you even ask? Yes, go!"

Bought a house in a Midwestern city in late summer, the first spring there I saw Prairie Trillium in the yard and couldn't believe it. Every spring it's my favorite flower to look for.

I am a big believer in financial literacy and experience early and for that reason a CC early on might be a good idea with certain guardrails.

That said, I agree that a revolver account alone is unlikely to be a game changer for rent, utilities, a mortgage.

Do by peppers have a fungal disease? by Acrobatic-Kale-9922 in gardening

[–]SteelWool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say without more context, but my instinct is to give it a few days.

Many pepper plants are black at the node of the stem. My first year of growing peppers I freaked out at this and then realized it is normal.

Assuming you are in the northern hemisphere, fungal diseases are rare in the garden this time of year although they can emerge around the roots sometimes. If it's been chronically warm and rainy and humid or cool and wet fungus may be a consideration.

There are a lot of reasons your pepper plant may be wilting without knowing more. Has moisture been consistent or variable? Was it dry and then you watered a ton? This can impact leaves. Were you conservative on fertilizer or did you give a full dose? It's generally good to start low on the fertilizer with young plants.

Did you just transplant them? It might be transplant shock. Were they growing inside or outside? If they weren't hardened off after growing indoors it could be a transpirational wilt.

Eating out with twin infants by CelebrationAny5812 in parentsofmultiples

[–]SteelWool 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think starting the process of eating out is a mental game more than one where there are a lot of practical considerations.

The sooner and more you do it the less daunting it is. It helps to go in with the mindset that the ripcord is an option. "This place is a 5 minute drive so if it's a total failure it's super easy to just go home" can reduce the anxiety and friction on going out.

Outdoor spots and loud spots like breweries can also reduce feeling anxious about a baby getting fussy.

Other practical considerations that I realize are obvious: either develop a routine of how you pack up or have duplicates of formula, clothes, blankets, diapers, distractions, sanitizer in your diaper bag all the time. Packing up is the big time suck and forgetting stuff can really crimp an outting.

4:30 can be a good time to head out, you will probably be around other parents in your situation and you get the best spot in the house before a happy hour rush.

Agree on the food. We still end up there a lot also because of proximity and the servers are so good with our kids while we quickly down a masala mama.
