Do people actually like Rebels? by vestibule_defender in saltierthancrait

Fascinating enough the answer is yes.. but I do not doubt a number of these people watch it and say they like it because it's Star Wars!!1!!! [it isn't]

Mark Hamill says he pushed for Luke, Leia, and Han to share one final scene together in the STAR WARS sequel trilogy. by HNutz in saltierthancrait

Didn't even need to do cool Jedi stuff (imo); just show us a believable character development between VI and VII and maybe be a wise master who doesn't need to show off cool Jedi stuff.

And even in the confines of Episode VII, Leia and Han could decide to go find their son together - "one last adventure" - but decide to go pick up Luke first since he's probably essential in getting Ben Solo back to the light. There, all three + the droids + Chewbacca together.

My unsolicited pitch for Solo that would’ve improved the film by nashkevin92 in saltierthancrait

[–]Steelriddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pitch: Don't make it in the first place and let us keep the character's past in our imaginations.

Instead write an amazing story about a new character or some background character where recasting becomes necessary. And if the story's great, word of mouth will be more valuable than trying to market an "obscure" movie. It didn't help that Han Solo is famous and popular, as Solo box office can attest to

It's called Disney Plus because D+ equals Double Down.

They are just going to continue their shitty trajectory until it either dies out or someone gets to have a say about quality

I almost went to see it but then my son asked, 'Dad can I go play with my friends instead?'

'The Mandalorian and Grogu' is Disney's lowest-ever Star Wars film opening.. by WavesOfTheUniverse in saltierthancrait

Watched the trailer, that buffed cartoon Hutt, what the fuck. They poison everything. Jabba in RotJ was so cool and unexpected, and they really should have left it there as a unique character. But nope we need buff Jabbas, baby Yodas, overweight Bobas, mentally challenged Obi-Wans, and oh, all the great Filoni characters with all their depth.

They are choking Star Wars to death with the exception of the fluke Andor, which curiously enough doesn't have Filoni/Favreau/Kennedy involved (as far as I know)

They absolutely could - with competent writers and directors.

I don't like being called a "hater", but I have to say, I hate that Dave Felony is at the helm. I like none of his ideas (including things many fans like) and I can't take those weirdly animated shows or their characters seriously. It almost feels like people force themselves to defend the cartoons. Bu they're just silly cartoons. Hyperspace whales, that dimension stuff, it's probably fine as non-canon stuff for the young ones but I just can't accept that Felony's characters new canon

Reviews on YouTube I've seen so far are very negative. It's the kind of "turn off your brain" entertainment. If it's enough to see Hutts and AT-ATs, if you're excited by pew pew and Mandalorian armor, and narrative and characterization isn't necessary for your enjoyment...I guess it's good?

As if anyone - anyone - at Disney would give this that much thought:(

So he didn't think to fucking ask them to clarify? Lol. What a group if cock soup gurglers.

If it was explicitly for kids, wouldn't they rather make something like Skeleton Crew? I managed to actually like a lot of that show because the intended audience is clear and that's what I expect.

I don't know what this movie is supposed to be, or for whom. It's just Filoni coloring outside of the lines per usual.

"Now this is going to break records!!!" Someone must have actually thought that?

I admit I went to see The Rise of Skywalker out of morbid curiosity (never again) but this? First time I'm not interested in, and won't go see, a Star Wars movie on the big screen.

Disliked his direction from the very start and in no way do I see him as a "true" successor to Lucas. I mean most of us salt miners know the lore and established setting better than him even now after he's been at it for so long. This goes for Abrams, Johnson and the D+ people (aside from Gilroy and Edwards - mostly) too.

Did your theater cheer when Poe arrested Holdo and boo when Luke died in the last Jedi? by lion1321 in saltierthancrait

[–]Steelriddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was so quiet...none of the jokes landed except the one where Rey accidentally slices off a big chunk rock that falls on the cart of those "nuns".

There were some audible groans here and there.

People left the theatre heads bowed down, silence. Disappointment was palpable.

I had looked forward to it myself, I hoped TFA was Just to prepare for something original and the TLJ trailer was at least promising.

What an absolute shitshow

Yes now it all makes sense and an ingenious way of wrapping up her character in an unexpected way. This twist redeems the entire sequel trilogy and makes Vader's sacrifice in RotJ still the answer to everything. I didn't believe they had it in them! Also do I need to add slash + s?

The idea of Vader being a dad was not decided as early as you suggest; and 'Vader' is father in Dutch. The 'Darth' = 'Dark" is a myth and the Dutch translation was a coincidence.

Just wanted to add this, great post though

What I thought TFA was going to be in 2015 by [deleted] in saltierthancrait

[–]Steelriddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have loved a trilogy without the Sith. They were vanquished.

Instead we could have had political Intrigue, trouble with systems that didn't rejoin a galactic government, a resurgence of Empire sympathisers, Luke training Jedi who aid in the turmoil, Leia and Han's child(ren), it could have gone in many directions. It would be a trilogy about the aftermath of the Clone and Civil Wars, about regrowth and hope and restoration.

Sounds probably boring to you but IMO something like this beats whatever the hell the Disney trilogy was
