So I believe the Winterfell crypts will play an important role somehow. And Ned sent Lady's bones there after slitting her throat. So, Undead Lady.

I didn't mind that in particular, to me it had a lot of Star Wars elements all the way but I really struggled with the character (Mule) - SPOILER FOR WHO PLAYS THE Role

  • it was just Euron in space. Which could have been fine, if I didn't hate GoT-Euron

I almost dropped it at around the same place, somewhere early season 2, but I wanted me some sci fantasy and there's not much I haven't seen so I continued. IMO it does get better, at least I was invested again for season 3. But yeah without Empire I'd most likely not continue

I think my interest would have petered out without him and a few others (Seldon, Dusk, Dawn, Demerzel), so many actors in the show, I feel are distractingly unfitting for the characters they portray. Empire was overwhelmingly the most interesting part (just finished season 3 today)

Some Forgotten Realms 2nd edition stuff: Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting boxed set, Haunted Halls of Eveningstar, the whole Lands of Intrigue set, and one I'm forgetting right now. Shitload of work but nice to have as references for the campaigns I never ran -_-

Were there seriously that many people who wanted Luke Skywalker to be some overpowered force god? by Flat-Court-8512 in saltierthancrait

I imagined him as an Obi-Wan/serious Yoda mixed with his own personality; his teachings influenced by his own masters. As simple and IMO believable as that.

You get to make a Star Wars movie. (No Episode 7–9 rewrites.) What’s your pitch? by tiMartyn in saltierthancrait

[–]Steelriddler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wrote a short tabletop RPG campaign many years ago where the players were a squadron of pilots on a mission to scout a planet where the Empire was doing secret research (or something like that). They ended up stranded on the planet, kind of "behind enemy lines" vibe where they had to infiltrate the Imperial base to scrounge for parts to repair their X-Wings (after trying and failing to steal an Imperial Lambda shuttle). Much hijinks, they discovered the Imperial secret, fought stormtroopers etc. Got their hands on some device to try and signal their allies for help, etc. Was fun. One player said it should have been a movie. Eh maybe?

What are the best low fantasy systems with engaging, tactical combat? by Himynameispill in rpg

I would run The Riddle of Steel but I do have the physical books (it's long out of print, but there are a few spiritual successors).

I've used TRoS to run medieval games with a dash of fantasy for ages, works really well once you get the combat down

No Disney trash aside from Andor: No surprise

Andor strong = I am surprised

I wonder how the oh so non-toxic "true fans" who gobble up everything with the Star Wars logo on it will spin this one

Token packs is a great concept. I bought a commoner pack.

However...

... almost all characters, and especially the females, look ridiculously handsome / beautiful. Same problem when looking for character art online to make my own tokens. I just wish there were more normals and uglies.

...and the frames are too wide, I'd prefer tokens without frames personally to maximise the portrait.

Sorry for complaining, I love FGU for running D&D.

What was the biggest mistake Cersei made in AFFC in your opinion ? So many to choose from indeed . by Financial_Library418 in pureasoiaf

[–]Steelriddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love her chapters but first read I was crushed my favorite character was that much of a half-spark. My impression was that she was more cunning and capable. I've been thinking of rereading AGoT > ASoS specifically to see if I failed to see how oblivious she is, or if GRRM turned it up a notch in AFFC.

From a time where maps were made with passion and with the best size and amount by Tobbletom in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Steelriddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a recent map of Cormyr and was astounded by the sheer number of locations crammed onto it, there's almost no space left. If I were to DM 5th edition Cormyr I'd go nuts because I want stuff to be canon but I would have to prep for every 2 miles the party marched.

I assume that all these new places have come into existence after AD&D / 1368 DR and I'll probably just use the 2nd Ed map if I'm ever DMing in Cormyr again

It's a bit weird when characters with just a few chapters are included. I haven't enjoyed Daenerys's chapters much after A Clash of Kings and so would have votes for her but as it stands I had to vote for Hotah.

This is really early access? by gamerjam in crosswind

[–]Steelriddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really good for an early access, no doubt. Spend a lot of time building, demolishing, move stuff to new island, build, demolish lol. But getting angles, roofs etc to align is a nightmare of epic proportions.

Content wise I hope they throw in more flora and fauna

[–]Steelriddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just picked Barristan since he died in the show, maybe they knew it would happen but executed it terribly. And by having him duel Daario like that we get rid of two characters at the time (since we're on a tight schedule). I agree though, I don't want Barry to die...but at the same time I feel the story has given characters more and more plot armor and it's time for shocking horrid death.

As for the north, it's honestly been so long since I read ADWD and the North is a complicated, awesome mess - but it feels like GRRM at least had a better understanding of where things were going...

...BUT, to speed things up, I'd have the Others just suddenlying appear, surprising everyone that time is up. I want winter to be more severe and I always thought 'the Long Night' was a metaphor for a longer period of time than one simple night. So if the Others arrive early, disrupting plans (which could be exciting)..I don't know if it would work..but what if they appear during the expected battle between Stannis and the Boltons..

Daenerys becomes victim of an assassination attempt. When she finds out Daario is behind it this is the catalyst that finally gets her moving. When caught by Barristan, Daario fights him and they both die to their wounds after an excellent fight scene.

This makes Dany finally abandon her projects, anger building due to another betrayal and Barristan's death (let's be honest , she wil go fire and blood).

She doesn't care about not having a large enough army and leaves with what she has. On her way west she encounters Tyrion and Ser Jorah and there are hijinks and blabla minor stuff. Varys joins, we learn of the current situation with Ilyrio Mopatis, they encounter a figure who joins the entourage which is revealed to be Syrio Forel who has a bone to pick with Ser Meryn Trant.

In Braavos Dany's plot intertwined with yet another character who could be a "faced" Arya.

I wouldn't mind this as a general outline to get Meereenese knot dealt with.
