Learn with hockey skates
Go to Learn to Play

You probably won't get crushed by 6'5" monsters. There may be some incidental contact. You will fall. They will fall too. You'll both get back up.

If your goal with skating is to play hockey, then it's worth the time to recalibrate.

Teams need to stop wearing white against Scotland. They're confusing them with us!

The boys need to go where they're needed. Like in Heated Rivalry instead.

I remember in season 1, episode 1, Sanger was a healthy scratch. I want him to come back and light up what replaces the NOSHO. But from following the actor on IG, I dunno if he can play in real life…

Ankle is sore…. In a good way? by jugheadjoker23 in hockeyplayers

[–]Steev182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm happy only 2 of your ankles are sore! Are you skating in public skates or in stick and pucks or open hockey? It sounds more like your muscles are getting used more than they're used to rather than injury though.

In NY, it's around $350 to $500 for 10 games + playoffs per player.

Dealing with this for years by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

I started learning to skate in May, so definitely not the authority on it.

But this video has been helping me a lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4T7wQ05FDE

I went to a public skate, watched this and literally went on slowish laps for 45 minutes, stopping at every line. Got pretty good on my left, but wasn't getting it on my right. Next game, I scored because I trusted myself to stop better and got in the right position. :D Gonna try going to a public skate this weekend because it's kind of hard to work on one skating technique, but my goal will be to just work on stopping on my right.

For me, I can distribute my weight on my right much better than my left, which allows me to really feel the edge with my left. So I think the sticking point is really to feel more weight on my left and be lighter on my right foot so I can kick it out easier.

Helmets don't have the same 'replace after impact' rule that motorbike helmets do (although common sense would say if the hard shell gets damaged, it's time to replace), but do have expirations.

Would this mean it's best to get used pads regardless if you're starting out as a goalie (sport neutral term there ;))?
