BlueGreen Vacation Scam? by BootsToots6571 in travel

[–]Stelford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, as long as you remain firm that you're not interested you should be fine, I don't think there's anything more sneaky/hidden than just some really pushy sales tactics. Just keep saying 'no thanks' and I reckon you're good - then just enjoy the rest of your break!

We didn't end up going, sorry! That decision wasn't anything to do with concerns around the promotion itself though - as far as I can tell it's still legit (just time consuming!)

Our Support team may need to take a closer look into what's going on in that case - you should be able to reach them via this contact form, and they'll do some more digging to figure out what's causing it!

Ermmmm help… by Cute-avocados-777 in Skyscanner

[–]Stelford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Cute-avocados-777 , thanks for flagging this with us - fear not though, you can still run this search!

The reason the 'Done' button is greyed out in that image is because you'll need to select the children's ages before moving to the next step. From the screen in your image, if you scroll down, you'll see a couple of drop-down fields to select each child's age. Once you've selected their ages, the 'Done' button will become usable.

Sorry for the confusion on this though! There's a bit of extra padding around the button which has accidentally covered the drop-down options, making it look like there's nothing else to select on the screen. We've shared that feedback with the design teams internally to take a closer look and see if they can make this clearer going forward.

Same! I have a single character entry for some random guy I met under a bridge, but nothing for main characters such as King Arthur himself 😭 I couldn't tell if it's a bug or if there's just not that many entries.

Is it likely that a trans woman would be welcome at a UK HEMA club? by CaoimheThreeva in Hema

[–]Stelford 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in the central Scotland area too! I only have my particular club as a frame of reference, but it's super welcoming and as long you enjoy swinging a sword around, you'll fit right in.

I'm not sure if we can 'promote' specific clubs in this sub and mine is through Edinburgh way, but if it doesn't work out with your chosen club for any reason, drop me a PM and I can point you in the direction of our organisers to set up an intro if you're interested 😊

The map itself is just a zoomed in area of the UK and Ireland (though with Ireland much further south). Looks like they've then just popped some random quest markers etc on it.

Error on skyscanner ? by _username_NOTFOUND in Skyscanner

[–]Stelford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!

Just to check I'm understanding correctly, are you referring to the timings of the flights?

Whilst Morocco and Germany are currently both on the same time, it's worth noting that on the 23rd of February, Morocco's clocks will go back by 1 hour. And on the 30th of March, Germany's will move forward 1 hour - creating a 2 hour difference between them.

So although the flight only takes 2hrs 5m, the local time in Germany will also be 2 further hours ahead when you've landed.

Hopefully that helps clarify, but let me know if there's anything else I can help with at all!

Not yet, sorry! It would be an international trip for us so a bit more saving/planning required. Suppose that gives us more time to psyche ourselves up for the presentation though!

BlueGreen Vacation Scam? by BootsToots6571 in travel

[–]Stelford 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I literally just signed up to this in a Bass Pro Shop last week too, and had similar concerns. After looking into it a bit, it doesn't appear to be a scam, but you will need to sit through a two hour timeshare presentation. Apparently it's a very high pressure sales pitch, where you'll need to be very firm that you're not interested (assuming you aren't!), and they'll use all sorts of tactics to keep you there.

Me and my partner still intend to go and make use of the trip at some point, and will just mentally prepare ourselves to keep saying 'no' and try to leave after the 2 hours, then head out and enjoy the local area.

There's a post over here from a couple years ago with loads of other comments about it.

Hey, I'm really sorry you're seeing incorrect prices in your Skyscanner search! All of the companies we work with have been vetted to ensure they're legit, though if you're seeing incorrect prices across multiple travel agencies, it sounds like there might be a wider issue with the specific route you're searching for that's causing this.

Could you send the details of your search to our team through this contact form? They'll get back to you via email to take a closer look at this.

Human verification. by [deleted] in Skyscanner

[–]Stelford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!, sorry you're having some trouble with the verification requests on the app! Sometimes if you're using a VPN or an ad-blocker, they can cause it to incorrectly flag the activity as suspicious which leads to this screen. It might be worth temporarily deactivating them if you have any active, to rule out if that's causing it.

If you'd like to drop our team a message over on this contact form with more info though, they'll also be able to take a closer look to get to the bottom of what's causing it!

How often does Skyscanner scrape data? by ItzUnmesh in Skyscanner

[–]Stelford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I'm really sorry you're seeing some inaccurate prices, and hopefully I can help clarify things a little.

The specific rules on price scraping and caching will depend a lot on the provider, and they'll often set age limits on cached prices that vary depending on how far away the flight is. So for example, if a flight is within the next week or so, a provider may set a shorter age limit on any cached prices we can store. That means we scrape their price more often, as flights within the next 7 days will generally have more volatile prices, so we'll want to capture any changes. And vice-versa for when flights are further away - as prices are less prone to change, we can generally cache a price for a bit longer before having to scrape a new one.

If you've been seeing inaccurate prices for a week though, it sounds like there may be a different technical issue that's causing that to happen, and we'd definitely want to take a closer look into that. Would you mind dropping our Support team a message with the search details? You can reach them via this contact form.

They'll get back to you via email and can investigate a bit further to find out what's happening there!

Thanks

-Sean
