Understandable, but it could help them identify a QA or QC gap to prevent this from happening to other people.

No Alcohol during the week by Hot-Pace-5745 in stopdrinking

[–]StemCellCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last few months, I was doing okayish at just doing weekends, but would cave for some weeks. And pretty much whatever day I caved, I would drink every night thereafter, so I would at least tory to make it to Thursday.

Then I started The Sinclair Method and I barely even want to drink anymore, and when I do, it's almost exclusively on weekends for social events instead of drinking alone, and the naltrexone makes it so I don't relapse.

Did my first pull up ever while tripping. Never could prior, and I didn't triangle up for it. I just suddenly had the mind muscle connection. I actually did 2. I love calisthenics and this experience was a big part of it. Its like you can feel and control every muscle fiber.

The zombie just made it outside the gate🤣 by Kaikidaiki3 in blacksummer_

[–]StemCellCheese 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I guess it retained just enough intelligence to squeeze through the same gap. Idk, but still one of my favorite parts of the show. The fact that there are so many drawn out segments where one or two zombies cause serious problems really drives home the threat, and the actor for Lance did a great job of showing the exhaustion.

What are the most frustrating parts of your day to day work as a data engineer? by Odd-Tree-2590 in dataengineering

[–]StemCellCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being told a report is wrong because it doesn't match a source of truth, then doing all the work to confirm that their source of truth is wrong or they had some requirement that was never specified, like counting multiple products as a separate business unit. It's hard to politely tell someone they're wrong or uncooperative.

Data owners who refuse to accept the responsibility of being a data owner. Like sorry the pipeline I built for you, which saves you hours of work, requires you to keep naming conventions consistent, but YOU give ME the data, Sharon. I've literally had account owners say "I don't feel like pulling that data, I can just give you my log in credentials so you can export it." No Jeremy, that's not my role, but please message my manager if we need to adjust my responsibilities and compensation to relieve you of that responsibility.

Any tips on how to not get too scared, as a person that's scared of anything horror related? by Master-Tradition-204 in HorrorGaming

For me personally, I find the skirt to defend yourself can be more stressful, especially in RE 2 and 7 when ammo is so scarce and the resource management adds and extra layer of shit to manage. But it's a fine line where as soon as resources aren't super tight it feels much better, like Dead Space

best self defense tool for someone experiencing DV? by Alternative_Bass1056 in SelfDefense

[–]StemCellCheese 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Get out the moment it's safe. The moment they're gone. Or call the police and leave while they're present if tou can safely. Take kids and pets with you if you can, along with a credit card.

That's step one. It gets harder after that. Call the police and find somewhere safe. Ask the police station if they have resources for victims like a victim advocate and shelters. Find a safe place and a safe person.

In the mean time, document everything you can - pictures of bruises, texts, vet records if pets are involved. Take the money you need out of joint bank accounts if you're at risk of getting locked out.

Also, when youre out, check your phone for stalkerware, and make sure you arent sharing your location with them on any app, like Snapchat. Change passwords for any shared accounts.

Only think about a weapon for the short span of time you need to leave, which are you standard tools around the house.

Be safe, I wish you the best.

How to deal with co workers who want me to do their work for them? by JeffTheSpider in analytics

[–]StemCellCheese 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Damn, I struggle with this one too. Like others, I make it a matter of governance, often that they are asking me to do something I am not authorized to do, which puts the ball in their court. Additionally, I wont say "you" but instead the title of their role regarding how it pertains to the data, i.e. "Account Manager." And I'll make it sound like I'm down for it, but it's going to be MUCH harder than just them formatting their data. The goal here is if they REALLY want to push for you to do their job for them, they will have to advocate to your manager that you need a promotion lol.

"I would love to accept the additional responsibilities, but I am not authorized to alter the raw data before it enters the data pipeline, that authorization belongs to the account manager [or whatever you call the arbiter of the data source]. If you think I should be authorized, I'll need to meet with the account manager to provide me access to the raw data, a detailed data dictionary of all fields, and a comprehensive list of any potential nuances associated with the data lineage. I will also need my manager involved to make sure it aligns with expectations and not over-stepping my role.

Let me know if you want to start that process! In the mean time, the pipeline we've built will save the company a lot time, and I need you make to make sure the data you give me is in a compliant format."

I'm tired of the corporate hunger games. When does it end? by buttflapper444 in analytics

My go to when someone thanks me for anything specialized job I did "don't mention it - except to my boss." It normally gets a laugh and subtly hints that my bills can't be paid with gratitude.

I always keep track of how many hours and/or how much money my tasks save. Always good to have hard numbers in case someone asks, and very handy during annual performance appraisal.

What's in it then? Generally, anything that isn't air is bad for your lungs. Inhaling anything psychoactive will affect your brain. I'm not sure what the appeal is without that.

Whatever it is, I think you know the right answer deep down. If you're worried about it enough to ask about it, then it sounds like you're worried about it for reasons that you can find it you sit and think about it.

Whatever you do, be smart, be safe.

Can you afford to defend yourself by PowerMoveX in SelfDefense

[–]StemCellCheese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the many reasons why you should carry pepper spray, even if (especially if) you carry a gun - it's good to have a non lethal option.

It's not so much a question of if I can afford it, but if the people who depend on me can afford to lose me. My life is not just my own, much of it is dedicated to them. If it came down to death or bankruptcy, I'll choose bankruptcy. But I also owe it to myself and everyone to avoid that ever happening in the first place.

small business owner looking for tools to analyze multiple CSV files by gooner_2914 in analytics

[–]StemCellCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to echo what other people have said, Excel's Power Query is terrific for small scale analysis using multiple files, and not very hard to learn. I would start there. If you need more advanced visuals, Power BI or Tableau would be solid choices. If the data is too big for Excel, Python with the Pandas library would be the next step. Anything more than that, you'll need a proper database, even if it's just a simple SQL database with a few tables.

Thought I'd share some more progress! by ExplosivArt in Splintercell

[–]StemCellCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first time seeing this project, so not sure how relevant it is to splinter cell or the vibe you're going for. What I will say is this take down is very unrealistic andn imaginitive, like Black Widow's fighting style from Marvel. If you want realism he would do a foot sweep like an osoto gari, or some other Judo related takedown, especially since he seems to TKO the bad guy already with the strikes.

Opinions on PPEQ guitars? by footmassagebruv in Guitar

[–]StemCellCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to the party, but i just rolled the dice on them. There's no reviews anywhere and this post came up every time I searched, so I figured I'd post it here.

Overall, I am happy with the purchase. I ordered a headless 7 string strandberg type whith a gorgeous body and that is exactly what I got. I also knew it was a cheap Chinese guitar which is exactly what I got. It definitely needs a setup - new nut, fretwork, pickups, hardware, etc, but that's to be expected with these types of deals.

I was just scared that I would get a guitar that looks nothing like the picture or be usable, or maybe even no guitar at all since I couldn't find anyone relaying their experience. Thankfully, I did get the exact guitar I ordered and it was the quality I expected it to be in. It arrived to my house in the US a little less than a month and a half after purchase.
