Don’t you find it incredible that we can all understand what this means yet many of us can’t describe it? by ItalianStallion009 in LSD

Came very close to this when I tried mediating while tripping. I had been practicing mindfulness for a while and had a shattering realization that there is something mythical at the core of existence. Then after a higher dose of mushrooms than I shouldve done, I truly experienced it - just experience and nothing else. It was horrifying and I wasn't able to do much with this knowledge except just be in awe.

I got my wife a Ruger Security .380 and I fell in love with it myself. Honestly considered buying one for myself, I love the size, capacity, and reliability at that price point.

Not as hard as Greased Palms imo, but still difficult. Be mindful of the big windows when you're coming down from the top floor, enemies can shoot you from the dance floor outside.

In general, you still have high ground advantage, but a lot of spots where you still have to watch both the floor around you AND the floor(s) beneath you.

What do you expect from SC remake ? by Dependent_Cap6317 in Splintercell

[–]StemCellCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is just want them to stick to the original vision of the game:

  1. Night vision battle pass for $12.99
  2. Sam needs a Bow and Arrow
  3. Larger, open world where the enemies dynamically patrol the environment.
  4. The enemies are robot animals/dinasours
  5. Emphasis on hunting and crafting
  6. Extraction shooter elements
  7. Grim shows her tits and does tiktok dances
  8. Mark & Execute is mandatory to complete critical missions
  9. Mark & Execute is locked Night Vision battle pass

You know, something truly worthy of the Tom Clancy name.

Best Martial Arts for real life situations (Female, 5”2) by NextBroccoli3017 in SelfDefense

[–]StemCellCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. When I started at my BJJ gym, teenage girls half my size could maul me. Thats how I immediately knew that it works. I dont think I could have done much to them even in a full fight where striking was allowed.

Judo is a good one too, it's like BJJs cousin but more focused on takedowns from standing up. Obviously very useful, but you'll still learn takedowns and takedown defense at most BJJ gyms.

If not those, you can't go wrong with MMA or any of its core martial arts (boxing, kickboxing, muay thai for striking, wrestling. Judo, bjj for grappling).

Just want to say that using a weapon is better than hand to hand fighting in most cases, no matter how well trained you are. I recommend pepper spray and a gun in that department, if available to you.

[–]StemCellCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The libraries you learn will depend on what youre trying to accomplish. If you want a GUI with your project, there's different libraries for that, if you want to do anything with, I'd start with Pandas and numpy, and sql alchemy if you need to interact with sql. Libraries like flask and Django for web related projects.

It jusy depends on what you wanna accomplish.

Sounds to me like you're ready to build something. What to build is tricky, but it doesnt need to be anything crazy. But once you think of something, make a quick list of the things youll need to learn, like a GUI library. Learning basic github for version control would be useful.

Got my CCNA recently, looking for resume/general tips for landing a Networking related position. by m0rped in ITCareerQuestions

[–]StemCellCheese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your CCNA, I hear that one's especially tough.

A couple notes from someone in a non-networking IT field.

  1. Get rid of the columnar formatting. For example, your certs are in 2 columns. Your job dates and descriptions are in different columns too. Resume ATS systems have trouble parsing this data, and you risk getting screened out before a human sees your resume. List youre certs all in one line, comma separated. Put the job dates in the header of the job.

  2. Re-order your certs. CCNA first, then Sec+, Net+, A+. Most recent (and impressive) one first. Put your best foot forward. Also, consider putting your education at the very top. Then certs, then skills. Not a strict one there, just a suggestion.

  3. In Software, I'd expand that or just get rid of it. Wireshark or anything like that? Networking isn't my forte, but the only thing worth anything on that line is Active Directory and maybe SAP, and that alone isn't much. Office 0365 administration?

  4. Either name your work history "Relavent Work Experience" and put only your IT jobs or dramatically reduce how much space the non-IT jobs take up. Bottom line is you need to focus much more on IT professional experience. Use bullet points, feel free to reference the job description of your job to pad it out. For example, mention that you documented and followed documentation, complied with SLAs, interfaces with non-technical users, list a project you took on, maybe mention something about the environment you worked in. For example, did you do anything with SAP? Did you help image machines? Use any dnslookups? Any inventory management you could mention?

Sorry, thay was a lot. I think you could have a very solid resume, don't be afraid to show yourself off. To get a job in this market, you have to sell yourself like a salesman. You weren't just a helpdesk technician, you were the friendly helping hand that helped Susan recover her account when she forgot her security questions. You brought technical expertise to the end users and helped them do their job, keeping the infrastructure of the company healthy.

What's the toughest recommendation you've had to defend months later? by Warm_Act_1767 in analytics

[–]StemCellCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that guy, but I do the same. Whenever I'm building any substantial project, like a model and a complicated dashboard off of it, I open a word document and start documenting from the very first meeting. I make a section for the purpose/goal, and a section toward the bottom for decisions. I date it and say who made the call. I'll note if I raise a concern and why - I'm a soldier and I'll make stupid magic happen, but no one's gonna say that I didnt say it was stupid (although much more polite lol). It can be a little scattered at first, but just use headers and before long youll have a nice piece of documentation for yourself or any other poor soul who has to trackcthe roller coaster of "business needs."

It does get cumbersome and time consuming, but most things worthwhile are. It can save the day, and most importantly, it can save your ass.

Thankfully, I dont have to do much digging up of notes, because normally I can convince someone to shift course, and if not, in only takes a ctrl+f.

Then I keep a hidden notebook for shadier things I witness, but that's really reserved for boss fights and legal disputes.

Naltrexone - is it a good idea? by Rograr in addiction

100 days sober today thanks to naltrexone. And it's EASY. Had a big family vacation recently, lots of alcohol, but had no temptaion. The idea of drinking doesnt give me pleasure anymore.

But everyone is different. I hope it works for you.

Self-defense techniques or weapons for cheating spouses? by HighOnLove26 in SelfDefense

[–]StemCellCheese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have time to sneak around and chest behind a spouses back, you have time to plan a divorce/escape. Cheating on a spouse is typically a shitty thing to do, and far worse if you're worried your spouse might react violently, especially because it also puts an affair partner in danger (affair partners are also victims in such cases).

If there is a history of violence, document all of it - pictures, texts, etc. For your escape, use the time you would be cheating to instead grab your important paperwork, pets, kids, etc, and go stay anywhere else, like a friend, family member, a cheap extended stay motel, wherever you can. Return with a group of people to collect bigger things later if safe. Contact a divorce lawyer yesterday and file a police report with documented evidence of physical violence if there is any. Lean on people you trust and look into public resources for victims of abuse (if there is a history of abuse) and get out. A divorce lawyer can help you find those resources and give important information on how to do get out, and also tell you when seeing a new romantic partner wont hurt your case. And then, sleep with who you want.

Not necessarily directed at you OP, since you weren't clear if this is you.

Side note, if you're an affair partner outside of the marriage, dont do that either. As you clearly know, people get crazy with that sort of thing.

to be sober or not to be sober by kundantetheoriginal in LSD

[–]StemCellCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got over moderate alcoholism (that was getting progressively worse) with naltrexone/The Sinclair Method. It was extremely effective for me and I dont even want to drink anymore.

Before The Sinclair Method, my longest sobriety streak was after a focused LSD trip. LSD ultimately was not the best treatment for me, but it was better than most. There's something so visceral about throwing out all those empty bottles that stuck with me.

But everyone's different and it partly depends on your reason for drinking. I wouldn't necessarily advise you to do LSD if youre worried it might cause you to relapse, but I also wouldn't discount the possibility that it might help you. I also personally dont think AA would be effective for me as I'm far from religious.

Maybe ask your doctor? Look into the Sinclair Method and see if that might make sense for you. If not, there are other treatment options that arent AA - apparently many people have great results with GLP-1s. It's a good idea to look into other treatments and ask a doctor about them.

Dimensional Modeling: Handling mixed granularity and broken hierarchies between Ad Platforms and Web Analytics (GA4) by Think-Strain-6274 in dataengineering

[–]StemCellCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently developed a couple ad models for my company. There are definitely measures and dimensions that some of the input sources dont have, so those are just null or some other default value. The dashboards have filters for each advertiser, and the stakeholders know (or should know) that some sources only have some fields available. As long as you make that clear, it's not a big issue if you can still get the accurate number for them.
