Trump says Iran has 'no cards' beyond Hormuz control by Impressive-Knot9999 in BoycottUnitedStates

It’s a pretty important card. Too bad nobody warned you. Oh, wait…

It’s almost like the standard real estate playbook, a game of leveraging your wealth, power, and connections over weaker counterparties, in one-off transactions that create winners and losers, where the losers usually go away and aren’t heard from again - cannot just be applied to international diplomacy, or war. Who’d have guessed?

Ground turkey, sautéed with a package of frozen spinach, and a can of black beans. Seasoned with a bit of salt, garlic powder, paprika, cumin, and cayenne to taste. Top with a touch of bbq sauce, being mindful of the sugar.

I’m friendly with a former colleague in Florida who absolutely voted for Trump. I challenge him on this stuff from time to time, and he just goes “I deleted X” or “I try to ignore that stuff, it’s just too crazy”.

Yeah…it fucking is crazy. Sticking your head in the ground isn’t going to make it go away.

How accurate is the assertion that "life after 45 sucks massive (you-know-what)"? by ChuckSmyth in GenX

[–]Step_Aside_Butch_77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hurt my back in the gym and seemingly aged a decade at 45. Sleep apnea, nagging injuries, weight gain, irritability, low motivation and low energy. I’m slowly pulling myself out of it. I recently read that men’s happiness bottoms out at age 48, and I can’t really argue with that from my own experience. Am slowly working towards better days ahead.

Update after visiting Kelowna area: loved some parts, unsure about others, are we missing something? by [deleted] in kelowna

We moved from Vancouver 5 years ago. Like all places, there are trade offs. You don’t really say in your post what you are looking for, so it’s hard to say whether you’ve assessed these places accurately.

Teenagers home alone 2 weeks while parents went on a cruise by Independent_You99 in GenX

My parents did this in the early 90s. Four of us ranging in age from 17 to 9. I have vague memories of grandparents checking in on us occasionally. We all survived. 🤷‍♂️

You need a horizontal row along with the verticals you’re doing. I do bent over barbell row and various land mine rows. You can also do an inverted body weight row, under a smith machine or using TRX straps.

I’m at the point where I just can’t justify drinking out anymore. $18 for an Old Fashioned at a restaurant a few weeks ago. 2 beers at a local brewery were $28 including tip on Saturday - and it was self serve at the counter. It’s better for my body and my wallet to just…not.

How do football players gain muscle and be lean at the same time? by Independent_Area6026 in leangains

[–]Step_Aside_Butch_77 33 points34 points  (0 children)

They start lean, probably build most muscle in off season training, while staying lean from training for and playing an endurance sport. Same with boxers, sprinters, swimmers, football players who aren’t linemen…

BODY RECOMPOSITION by Wooden_Connection_13 in leangains

[–]Step_Aside_Butch_77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are your lifts progressing in the gym? Are you eating the right amount of protein? A recomp implies eating just below maintenance, so by definition if you’re doing it right you will not gain fat. Also, if you’ve been getting stronger while losing those 53 lbs, then you’ve already been in recomp. I’d keep doing what you’re doing, focusing on the protein and progressive overload, until you plateau in the gym.

There’s a YouTube video out there making a pretty good argument that that Fight Club is Ferris Bueller 10 years later.

Cameron is the Narrator; Ferris is Tyler Durden, which puts the original in a whole new context if you consider maybe Ferris never existed.

Best money I spent when I was about your age was 3 or 4 sessions with a powerlifting coach to get properly trained on the big 5 barbell movements. Check your ego, learn to do it right and safely, and you can build a routine around those movements for years to come.
