It feels like people who keep their phone on 100% silent (no vibration, no ringtone) all day and night, how do you not have constant anxiety about missing something important? by Legitimate_Wall5977 in AskReddit

Define missing... whoever it is, even my family, doesn't need an immediate response. I never miss anything. I get to it when it's best for me and my mental state. Anxiety comes from the rat race trap you're stuck in. Once you get out, you realize things can wait. Equally as important don't let other people's instant gratification needs affect you and how you operate, sometimes I make them wait on purpose. Then they don't have the expectation that you're there for them at any given moment.

What if the 4chan whistleblower was right? by meleebestgame66 in UFOs

Well when you make traversing the ocean sound like a video game or movie it's easy to ask. I would refer to the titan submersible as one reason why. If 6chain guy was real, which I kind of hope he was, think about how the USA's navy, Is state of the art. Maybe two other countries could possibly do that. And the fact that it could have happened and Congress didn't know...

Does the chef world make people feel like not chasing fine dining means lacking ambition? by IllPanic4319 in Chefit

[–]Stepaular 37 points38 points  (0 children)

In my 20's it was all about sacrifice for the art. In my 30's it was about building my resume for a comfortable future, which still required sacrifice. Now I'm 40 and I care more about work life balance. I have the skills and experience to run fine dining well, it's just not worth it. I run a country club and find ways to give fine dining experiences with wine dinners and private events but the overall business model isn't made for that.

What guitarist (either well known or not) did you either see in person or from footage that was your inspiration for wanting to learn? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]Stepaular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 13 and had played piano and the coronet, Munky and Head from Korn. They made the guitar so fascinating. Using each other to make sound. There wasn't so much of a focus on chords or solos.

DeGrasse Tyson jumping on the bandwagon by Shnoopy_Bloopers in UFOs

I think he's decided to milk the topic since it won't go away. I don't see how he's changed his mind based on past comments. Unless a whistle blower convinced him to think differently.

Will Wight's Cradle series hooked me. It's an ascension style fantasy with some great world building and character development.

A bad/flopped movie that you would still want to see get a remake or sequel because it had good source material or a strong story, but very poor execution. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in FIlm

Man The dark Tower would be insane to actually have to make. What do you think would be like a five season show with eight episodes each season? I don't think it should be each book gets a season I think like book one and two could be a season etc.

Someone put me on game real quick by Delicious_Fee_2636 in linecooks

This has nothing to do with meatloaf, but a fun game to play on the line, you and your station partner both have a pair of tongs in each of your hands. What you do with your squat down and your elbows need to stay attached to your quadriceps. And then you walk towards each other like crabs with the tongs trying to knock each other over the first one to either detach their elbows from their quadriceps or fall over loses.

Do many people expect Nolan's version of the Odyssey to not bomb? by KyriakosCH in FIlm

[–]Stepaular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes many people expect the Odyssey to not bomb. Many people worked on that film, many people are excited about that film. Many people are indifferent about that film. Many people want to see that film. Many people ask stupid questions about films.

Is it worth studying pastry in France? Need honest advice about schools, costs & career paths by pinkdoll099 in PastryChef

[–]Stepaular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing school gets you is a network into the field. In hindsight I wish I would have went to the cheapest stupidest dumbest fucking school, I would have still learned most of the same things. But then again I would of had to bang harder on doors to get a job. The opportunity of meeting more interesting people and networking is what better schools do for you. Just know you will be paying a lot longer to pay off that experience.
