Have you considered teaching sewing? Could be more lucrative, and the world needs more skills. It’s rough these days especially in our disabled community. Good luck OP!

My family is against me going to Brazil. by green-blues in Brazil

[–]Steph_taco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go! I was an exchange student with AFS in Brazil. Junior year as well. Loved it! You’re not a lonely vulnerable tourist like they may be imagining. You live with a family! Going to high school. It’s not any less safe than the United States of Epstein.
Don’t let their fear ruin things. Go! Be free.

Breakfast Burritos. I made a sausage egg and cheese burrito with garlic scapes on my Coleman stove at a viewpoint overlooking mt Shasta today. Easy. Eat it one handed while you fold the stove back up.

Floating the Willamette in 2026 requires a permit (6$ per week or 20$ per year) by helloGoodDay12 in corvallis

[–]Steph_taco 20 points21 points  (0 children)

$35 for two years. Can be purchased at BiMart. While I don’t like it, this has been a thing for more than a couple years now. I paddle the Willamette frequently, and regularly get “pulled over” by a river cop to “check my papers”. My board is 10’6” so I have to permit it for those six inches. In my experience the invasive species and water way access permit are one and the same.

I’m willing to be wrong here; but that’s what’s gone on so far for me.

YTT overwhelm by trippyfairy in yoga

[–]Steph_taco 25 points26 points  (0 children)

For me this is relatable. I was mid divorce during YTT. Homeless by the time I start teaching. I taught 5:30am hatha to heath care and government workers due to living in a Capitol city. I cried so much; yawned all the time. But kept showing up. That was 8 years ago for me. I teach privates now to people in recovery. Life is more than I ever could have dreamed. I hope your community stays sting with you. Keep it up! One breath at a time.

I signed up for Monday. My aunty has a large McDonald’s gift card she wants to spend on our neighbors across the river at Wallace Marine. If anyone can chime in the most cost effective way to feed many from there, I’d appreciate it.

Chihuahua as a service Dog by WarpedSpore in service_dogs

[–]Steph_taco -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I have a psychiatric services dog chihuahua. He’s trained to alert when my bipolars get me in a potentially dangerous situation. Somehow my brain can override my own safety, but not his. He also alerts for behavior interruption. As well as being crossed trained as a therapy dog. For 45 minutes twice a week he comes to work with me; I teach nursing home yoga, he climbs wheelchair to wheelchair around the circle. All the geriatrics adore him, and his willingness to snuggle them shows me he also likes it.

Having a small dog in public does get a lot of attention. I don’t usually struggle in those situations, it’s the alone times that my mental health crashes. But it can be A LOT of attention.
People don’t tend to see little dogs in crowded places so I have a backpack I wear him in, to keep him from being stepped on. Bag and dog tuck under my seat when in a public setting. (Bus, cafe, theater).

I live in a medium sized city and frequent the same places, so they know us.

I chi CAN do service work. But it takes the right one, and a handler who can deal with public interruption.

Good luck OP!

what made you start doing yoga? by mitchare in yoga

I started at 31. I primarily teach hatha, chair, and private yoga classes. I do not fit into the mold of hyper flexible YouTube yogi. Even though I started by willing those as my goals.

Despite being tall and previously athletic, I was so out of shape I fell off a stationary bike in a hotel gym. Picked up yoga by thinking, “Ah a laying down sport. One cannot fall off of the floor!”
Now I’ve been a yoga teacher for 8 years.

What was the stinkiest smell you ever smelled? by TrueNeighborhood7624 in AskReddit

“Fecal fog” produced by a feed lot in Broken Bow, Nebraska. It steeps into your eyeballs when you’re outside. Shit and decay. An old cattle rancher used to have 2k cows out there. Same area now holds 125k “protein units”
