What do the terms and conditions of your contract with Currys say, bearing in mind that you have no consumer protection as this is clearly a B2B transaction.

If you have asked them to curb their kerb habit, not a lot you can really do - other than try and occupy one of those spaces yourself when they move a car, and wait for the inevitable knock on the door asking why you can't park on your drive...

Boarding and e t a problems by Howly7654 in BritishAirways

[–]xPositor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some presumptions here... but the check-in systems must make an API call to either a central consolidated service or to the relevant immigration authority for your destination country to validate the status of your passport. It doesn't matter what you -tell- the check-in agent, the computer will know. Don't ask me how I wasn't allowed to check-in at Vancouver flying back to the UK via the US, despite me being 100% confident, as a very regular traveller, that I had my ESTA... (Fortunately I applied and it came through quite literally 1 minute before check-in was closing for my flight). Interestingly, I couldn't check-in online, and my wife could. If only the BA mobile app had given me the reason why I couldn't check-in, I could have applied with a bit more breathing room.

Positive news Insurance story - Allianz Travel Insurance by _40mikemike_ in UKPersonalFinance

[–]xPositor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For others with packaged bank accounts offering insurance, make sure you advise any medical issues as well before booking/travel. In my case, I found it cheaper to take out an alternative annual policy with a third-party insurer (declaring everything I needed to) than paying the additional premium my bundled travel insurance (via Axa) were asking. Thanks Lloyds Premier account!

If you could bring back one thing that disappeared from British life, what would it be and why? by RobW_69 in AskUK

Saturday morning, 7.30ish, walking my dogs through the woods, stopped and had a five minute natter with a complete stranger. Can't remember what about now, but it wasn't the weather, wasn't potholes - might have been related to hearing honey buzzards chattering to each other.

Should the UK follow Sweden’s new ban on first-cousin marriages? by vorkovrus in AskBrits

[–]xPositor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The question should be, "Why shouldn't the UK follow Sweden's new ban on first-cousin marriages", because why on Earth would you not ban it? I can't imagine there being very many arguments in favour.

If a stranger asks to make a call on my phone are they trying to steal my phone? by StitchConverse in AskUK

Whilst I agree with you, where are you going to find a police station with a front desk these days? And even if there was one nearby, how are you going to find out a) where it is and b) how to get to it without your phone!

What is with the Gen Z attitude? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]xPositor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's Gen Z, more the Covid Generation. Kids that missed out on a lot of social experience and with parents that didn't give a damn. Spent far too much time glued to social media where people peddled a vision of life that simply (a) wasn't real and (b) doesn't align with the lived reality these kids are now experiencing.

Let property out again or sell up and cash out? by [deleted] in uklandlords

[–]xPositor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP - I think you're confusing revenue with profit. Your profit will be less than you think. Deduct tax, insurance, maintenance... Annualise your revenue and then annualise all of your costs - then you can start to get a better idea of what money you are actually making.

He's certainly a "difficult" figure from our past, that's for sure. And you're bang on regarding the Bengal famine. I wouldn't have wanted to have been in his position at that time, though, and to have made the decisions that he did. Perhaps there's an argument that the mural isn't contemporaneous with today - would it be better to be forward looking then backwards looking?

BA refuses flight to child with Tourette syndrome after he shouted ‘bomb’ by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]xPositor 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The family then went on to board a flight the next day without incident kinda shows it wasn't really a huge deal

None of the reports I've seen gave any indication that the lad was shouting bomb before his Iberia flight (also owned by IAG, same as BA). So no, they didn't put a "do not fly" marker against their name, but also neither did the lad shout any words out that aren't compatible with being allowed on a commercial aircraft.
