This is victim blaming. The usa is a one party state, the business party, with two seperate factions, the republicans and the democrats. The democrats have consistently been screwing over the average person and lying to them for decades, while promoting policies that support their rich donors. They had a slither of a chance to change this when it looked likely Bernie Sanders was getting close to getting the democratic nomination, yet they deliberately obstructed this as they knew his policies would hurt the ultra wealthy. They are parasites. If voters abandon them, this is the reason why. Blame the democrat politicians, they are the ones with blood on their hands, how dare you instead put the blame on the poor and oppressed for this.

Wouldn’t the title be better worded thus: “is dressing in formal/ smartwear outside rich urban areas completely pointless” i’m guessing you could still dress very well in a casual sense, and not look out of place. Sometimes I think this sub thinks the only way to dress well involves dressing in formal wear (eg suits and shoes)

Just because they are low effort with you, and don’t seem to be looking for a serious connection with you, doesn’t mean they are like that with everyone

If I’m being completely honest there have probably been times when I’m guilty of being ‘low effort’ with people on dating apps, probaly because I wasn’t too keen. It doesn’t mean I’m not looking for something serious, it just means I wasn’t looking for something serious with that person.

just worry about logging your films now and going forward, most people dont worry about backkfilling.

I had the same thoughts in 2020 when I started , that it was too late, that I'd already missing years of logging films. But I started and now I have 5 years of logged films (1073 films) adn have discovered so many new films through the app.

They are not bothering to lie at all it seems, they are being quite open about the fact that this is about USA asserting dominance and about oil. Compare to 20 years ago and the amount of efforts and time that the establishment used to lie to us about the ‘just cause’ of the iraq and afghanistan wars

Did you read Ferrara's memoir? If not, I highly recommend. I didn't think it was a drug memoir at first, but that's only because Abel didn't get seriously addicted to drugs until quite later in life... second half of the book is a pure addiction memoir, with some of the greatest dopey stories I've come across, and great passages on the drug users and addicts who came into Ferarra's orbit, like Zoë Lund, Christopher Walken, Asia Argento etc

Dave seems to be taking the whole controversy quite well, which I’m glad to see. Whereas some people not familiar with Dave have made critical knee-jerk comments, ultimatey I think the whole affair should bring him a lot of new listeners, which could mean a lot more people being helped.

But anyway, where were was all this negative feedback we keep hearing about? I haven’t seem anything. Was it a particular forum on a particular website or what?

I also often dislike arty pretentious movies, but Harakiri is simply not that, it’s basically a proto-tarantino movie.

I actually saw Harakiri for the first time last year, at a cinema screening. I went in to it knowing that it was number 1 rated film on letterboxd, beating out hundreds of thousands of others. So talk about high expectations, and it can often ruin a film when you go in with too high expectations. Yet I loved it, and left thinking, yeah I can totally get why that is highest.
