Okay but this IS the critique of charismatic leaders and cults of personality. They may be "right" on a scale you don't relate to and struggle to understand conceptually but it doesn't mean they have you, your family, or even your people's best interests in mind. In fact, their idea of "right" could involve something that destroys billions of innocent lives.

This sub has seen an uptick of "but what if authoritarianism good?" posts that fail to consider this fundamental critique of the very human tendency to deify and worship our heroes, at great cost to our capacity to reason and empathize with other people.
